    Project Big Red

Thanks! It’s been a long and tortured journey. With a lot of nickel and dime stuff along the way and a new bed and the reman long block, I’m probably close to double the original goal. [emoji15] I did put that back in. Not much change. Running hot is somewhat to be expected with the IDI...

The one that was in it was aluminum but it looked stouter than the one I put back, hence not throwing it away. I need to pull the one out of the parts truck. Not sure what it is.

It should have. I’m 99% I put it in there. I’ll give it a squeeze next time I’m under there to be sure.

Well, an unexpected upgrade happened. That’s what I’ll call it. I put new ptfe fuel supply hoses on the truck. I started it up the other day and found a massive fuel leak coming from the line. The CPE rubber lines had gotten hard and the one from pump to filter split. So much for being fuel...

    Vibration at Speed

The taps are to relieve the tension that causes the joint to bind that is caused by the friction of installing it. The yoke is usually a little distorted because of pushing the caps in. A little shock with a hammer tap helps It spring back to shape.

    Super cab seat options

Saw that the other night. It’s interesting but the way the mounts I don’t think is compatible. Taking a look at things, I’m thinking there’s going to have to be a shoulder bar that will serve 2 purposes. It would be a mount point for the head rest and a guide loop to make the angle a touch...

    Vibration at Speed

Motor mount could be letting something touch the cab when the drive train is loaded. That may be one issue. Check your pinion nut and make sure you don’t have any thing coming loose. If this is new since your last service, it has to be related to whatever you did (stating the obvious). If...

    Vibration at Speed

Any lift or anything? Changes to driveline angle? I’ve had a couple different things happen to me over the years. Two on my current truck and one on a different truck. All related to axle wrap/pinion angle changing under load messing with the driveline. When you accelerate or put weight in...

Got it done. Diamond eye Exhaust // '94 idi 7.3 turbo

For what it’s worth, I used the psd down pipe and just cut the flange off and used the correct size on an elbow for my application. I know I’m not factory turbo but it wasn’t bad. Then mated to 4” using what I think was a cat delete pipe for “off-road use only”. I did my own from there back...

    Super cab seat options

This is the common one. I’m not sure if this is what I have or not. I think I had to drill 2 holes. https://www.lmiwelding.com/seat1.htm

Is this what you mean? The pad above the back of the seat? I haven’t seen anything else for a OBS truck. This is my truck with the lift kit under the seat. So the seat back is already at the bottom of the window.

    Super cab seat options

Generally I agree with you, but I need to buy some time. The high back booster works right this moment but it takes a ton of room that he’s going to need come summer.

    Super cab seat options

I spent some time nosing around the interwebs today. I saw a guy put 2017 head rests in an older superduty for the same reason I’m looking. I’m not sure that’s quite viable but I’ll look. The OBS trucks had an extra pad that went below the window. That doesn’t help me because my seat has the...

    Super cab seat options

Guys, I’m looking for measurements on some super cab seats. The youngun is going to be big enough to ditch the booster in the next year or so and I’d like to swap from the standard old low back seat to something more modern that’s a bit taller and has a head rest. The front seats are 2010 ish...

    Project Big Red

And here is the finished product. like it’s not even there. Just what I wanted. I was going to drill and add extra bolts in the remaining slots in the frame mount plates but the fuel and brake lines were going to make that extremely difficult so I went with just what the instructions said...

    Project Big Red

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this thread because, well I haven’t done much. I drive it occasionally. I’ve got a couple winter upgrades going on that I’ll share as I get them completely sorted. For now, I am just working on making her ready to do truck things. She got a new BW turnover...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Exactly. Like I told him, on the sliding scale of things that it could have been, out of fuel is pretty tame. I had exactly the same thing happen to me at the 2018 rally. Rolling down hill to a stop sign. This is why I talked him into the electric lift pump.

So what did you do with your truck today?

I’ve honestly never recovered from the truck project. The deeper I got, the more it was just pushing stuff around. Need to get things sorted a bit so I can get my electrical service put in and get off the temp service I’ve been on for 10 years now. LOL

So what did you do with your truck today?

Drove the truck to work and picked up some steel for a project. 3/16” steel top. Consolidated a set of drawers I already had to get rid of an extra piece of rolling stock. Trying to reclaim my disaster of a garage.

    Seat help

This is why I just used the track. It’s not quite as handy but it works. It’s now two levers instead of one. Hopefully I’ll get to do the door-add mod in the not too distant future.
