Glad you got it figured out. Yes, sloppy indeed!

    C6 fluid change advice?

If all the bolts are installed... then yeah someone left an extra one. Man that's a simple auto. The one on my old 2000 Corolla died and I worked on it a bunch... had 3x as many bolts as that C6 does!

    Doomsday Dually Project

Looking good!!! The injector line you can just bend a little out of the way. That's a tight "drop in" lol. It sure will work good though! Love the setup and shop and gantry and clean everything...

17 years later I did a compression test

I switched to full synthetic 15w-40 from Costco on my last oil change. It's consumed more oil this go around than normal, but it might be 3 quarts over 4-5k. I don't drive her a lot. The synthetic will clean her up slowly and keep things in good order. I agree. It was maybe 2 years ago, but I...

17 years later I did a compression test

Starts just fine! 8-10 seconds on my push-button and good to go.

17 years later I did a compression test

The engine runs well overall. Could start better on good glow plugs but this could explain some of the smoke on startup. That or leaky injectors but they all pop very close together still. #7 had the best compression overall but also had the best build up. It was clearly special. LOL The...

Project Thread: 1986 F250 “Farm Truck #1” Build Thread

I ended up putting a filter similar to the stock one down on the frame rail. That way the Facet and mechanical(I have them both in parallel) are feeding off clean fuel. Defeats the purpose of that nice screen on the Facet but oh well. I find that a turned up pump still starves for fuel with the...

Here is the taped adapter not falling out of the socket. 5 picture limit per post apparently.

17 years later I did a compression test

I bought my pickup about 17 years ago, never did a compression test. Today I finally did, and while it wasn't fun to see the results, they do explain a bit. I actually did the #1 cylinder LAST, imagine my let-down. Until that point I was only mildly grumpy about #6. Booooooo Also, I had to use...

7.3 idi compression test numbers and discussion

@hacked89 I bought the same kit as you did(i think) and cut down the long glow plug adapter, but that removed the schaeder core from the equation. Now my gauge won't keep a cumulative pressure-- how'd you get around that? Mayne our kits aren't the same after all.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Hey nice work! WOW that floor was bad... salt or no salt, you were about to pull a Fred Flintstone in your bricknose! Looks great now brother

If it's not tall enough you could always take the wheels off and put her down on blocks, etc. Better make sure everything is unbuttoned from down below, though! :D

Just watched your video. Why leave the other GP's installed when cranking?

Where do you buy coolant test strips that aren't bad?

I asked my local NAPA the same question, because they expire after a year but only come in packs of 100 or whatever which is ridiculous. In my case the NAPA guys will just give you a test strip, because they know if you need SCA's you're about to buy them from them. So if you can't find a...

Keep an eye out for that little pre-filter clogging up. I had one on a cube pump that took me 3 days to figure out why it kept dying and starting and dying and starting...unreal

It's called a gantry crane. Then add a chain hoist to finish the job. What I don't have is the dang GINORMUS SHOP to house said vehicles and cranes and such. Sigh.

    Knocking after injector change

That actually sounds like you found yourself a quality shop. Lots of specifics, you can tell they did due diligence and must have a pop-tester on site as well. The testing standard for these injectors is pretty basic. They need to "pop"(or spray) at a given PSI, anything between 1600 and...

    Chuff, Chuff, Chuff

Could it be a collapsed lifter? I've never dealt with one myself, but I've read about them a few times. I guess it's a low probability given the engine was running at the time of failure.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Ha, yep I've never understood why people put stuff up there having seen so many items along for a short ride as they drive away in a parking lot, etc. So of course whenever I actually *do it myself* I forget something is up top about 50% of the time. Thankfully that hasn't been more than a...

Classic Diesel Designs 61mm drop in replacement for a banks turbo.

I'm also rocking the BHAF and CAC but I have an 093 setup. It looks like you have the non-wastegated banks. If so, that may explain the low boost numbers. It'll be efficient but not a lot of boost. @david85 did the same thing a few years back(non-wg Banks + 60-1), same results. More volume but...
