    IP question

You ain't kidding, that's a lot of odd-ball things going on with that "new" IP. The fact that it started right up and bled the air out quickly is a great start though, makes you feel good about the future of the pump. I wonder how/why that other IP is bypassing so much fuel? Is the check ball...

Power steering leak location? Which part should be replaced?

Probably exchange the part. But I'm just passing along what I've read. Yes it would be much worse than having the part work the way it should to begin with, I'm fully with you on that. Most likely --> uninstall --> ship to them --> they ship out another or the same unit fixed, then --> re-install.

    Grumpy idle noise in gear

If you have a Zf-5 and it's gear rollover noise, some overfill the trans as said, but I just turned up the idle to 800-ish RPM. I just turned it up till the noise stopped. A little higher idle doesn't bother me any since I almost never sit in traffic or leave the engine running for no reason.

    Seat heater install

Just curious, why? As for me, cloth all the way! Fake leather is the worst, leather isn't great, and cotton/wool beats synthetic cloth. @david85 Nice work! It doesn't usually get terribly cold here, but takes 10-15 mins driving for heat in my cab. This is mostly because my house is physically...

Power steering leak location? Which part should be replaced?

They have excellent customer service from what I was reading about when this was posted. You might be able to call them and say what's up and see if they will do anything about it. But for certain they would have made it right when you first installed it, just for future readers. I saw many...

Had my side window shot out. Some tips on installs.

Yep, like that. Little bricks not sharp for the most part. They can cut you but nothing like non-tempered will. We had a sliding glass door explode on us one day when I was 12/13, thought we were under attack or something. Turns out it was just the heat of summer, apparently. In Western WA!

    ZF Tailhousing swap

Lol I never saw the bot post, so I thought you were calling @ROCK HARVEY a bot, trying to stir up controversy :kick::joker:

Had my side window shot out. Some tips on installs.

First of all, that's absolutely bonkers that your window was hit by a bullet!!! Dang 6 junk yards is tenacity. Secondly, the way you describe it, was your side window not tempered glass? It should shatter into a million tiny pieces that are more like tiny bricks than sharp glass. I accidentally...

6.9 idi lacks low end torque/power

Just going over the basics, I'd be checking: Fuel pressure: needs ~5psi throughout RPM range Timing: usually runs better around 6* BTDC (8* ish is fine, but the turbos usually run a little better at 6, though every engine is different.) Injectors: you can pop-test the injectors if you have the...

    THSIM9’s 1991 F250 Project

I haven't done it, but you can wire/bolt the wastegate shut to achieve nearly the same result. Unhooked, our wastegates seem to begin to open around 9-10 psi, but are definitely bypassing a bunch of exhaust by 12 psi. Our stock up-pipes generally leak terribly and it's not a good design. I'd...

    ATS Turbo Oil Feed Leak

My point was: that is the shape I had to make it to work. It didn't come that way! If I realized I could have spaced up the housing I would have done that, much easier! I highly recommend a charge air cooler for your turbo, it's the second best mod I've ever done behind the turbo.

    IP question

I put a small fuel manifold with about 12" of fuel line before the IP inlet. I have a mechanical gauge off that, plus the new digital gauge I just installed in the cab, and the factory bleed nipple(with the very small hole) going into the return tees. So I get pressure readings right there, and...

Power steering leak location? Which part should be replaced?

I've have a RedHead steering gear from ~8 years ago. Works great!

    ATS Turbo Oil Feed Leak

I'm with you. Years ago with my turbo install I had to "massage" that line as well. They are very thick and make of steel, so pinching is less of an issue as is work-hardening. I can't remember how I bent it, but if I was to do it today I'd probably heat it up and try it that way, but have a...

    Fuel Selector Valve

Is that OEM? The light plastic makes me think aftermarket. Hard to say what the failure is there, but I'd also try to clean it up and see what's under the black stuff, if it burned up the track it's an easy solder but could be the (diode?) blowing as well. Diode would make sense as it's a...

Surface mount hitch receiver on front bumper to carry bikes?

That oughtta work! Walmart has a really good online game these days, taking back some of the Amazon footprint it seems. Lots of 2-day shipping the last time I checked. Why do you say Autozone is Orielly's? Can you take stuff purchased at Orielly and return it at Autozone?! Or am I just not...

    Squealing Noise Until Operating Temp

My 3G alt has never squealed unless it got wet or something, and I've tortured my batteries at times. So chalk me up as one that gets away with it, but that's also why I'm a believer in the wax stick! And tightening the alt belt nice and snug.

    Squealing Noise Until Operating Temp

NAPA sells a wax stick for v-belts, like a piece of sidewalk chalk in size. I've been very impressed with how much "stick" they give the belt, without it hurting anything else. You might give that a try and see how it goes. There's also usually a second groove on the alt, supposedly they were...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Turns out that was today! I was so fed up with my rear tank not working right that I put on 3 layers and crawled under the truck in some light rain to do the FSV diesel shower dance. Thankfully it went OK, biggest surprise was that even after replacing the fittings with fuel hose and clamps, I...
