    Cup holders

Are you crazy!! :p We can’t end this thread, let it hibernate and fester and grow and become!!! Cup holders are ever changing. Just like these new fandangled vehicles themselves, forever getting bigger. In 1987 I could reach nearly half way across the bed of a 3/4 ton at 6’4.5”. Now my nose...

Trans oil cooler and bypass questions for van

^this, you running full synthetic? If so I wouldn’t worry about 200F. If not, change the fluid. Personally I’d still put a bigger cooler on though.

7.3 idi rough running and blue smoke

My idle smoke looked blue and it was timing related. Well that and I think too much government idle time.

Unknown starting issue. Problem almost certainly lies with operator.

I think you should go watch some “slave lake” videos from ziptiesnbiasplies on YouTube and you’ll get a quick idea how to incorrectly bring this thing back from the dead and get it to idle. Let her eat in the ketchup for awhile or at least the mustard and work some fuel through it. Me...

Unknown starting issue. Problem almost certainly lies with operator.

You’re in good hands and I’m the resident idiot around these parts. But I’ll offer a thought that may not matter. Are you flooring or blocking the IP wide open when cranking and trying to bleed the lines? Maybe it’s wrong, but I always floor it until I get it to fire and then modulate to...

    Head Coolant Flow

To finalize before testing. Buttoned up and ready to add coolant tomorrow sometime. I think the 90 might rub on the inside of the doghouse, but other than that. It’s secured and protected much better than before. I think the effort was worth it, helps me sleep better at night.

    Head Coolant Flow

Well, had a little time today before the hot sun sets in. Got roughly 6-7 gallons of coolant drained and the fittings swapped. Threads cleaned and gooped, now just drying. Need to make lunch for the kids and the shade to come back before I run the hose connections and refill. Oh, 22mm 6-pt...

    This Merc ain't FROZEN!!!

Dad says he remembers (fuzzy) it was a 1986 3.8 V6 and was a Landau Model/package. Salesman told him it was rare to be two-tone……but…..salesmen I do know it pulled our pop up camper to Knoxville IA with relative ease for the World of Outlaws.

    This Merc ain't FROZEN!!!

I might be remembering wrong, but my buddies turbo 4 would leave my dads V6 in the dust. But man my dads was fancy. Black and silver 2-tone with red pinstripe. Gray interior, all electric. Dash completely digital. Pink Floyd “the division bell” cassette on repeat. Dad holding a whiskey soda on...

    Head Coolant Flow

I’m back on shift, days. But I have the hose cleaned up and removed “mid-head” and have boughten a coupler and hose to extend to the rear. My goal is to reduce a potential hot spot. I don’t have valves to valve off heater core flow. Top of my WP has (2) 5/8ths take-offs. 1 going to the rear htr...

Thanks @IDIBRONCO it would have kept those returns a lot straighter, oh well the old lines, which I think were original to the govt buildout weren’t leaking there. After seeing @Cubey ’s under doghouse photos with a turbo, if I ever do a turbo, it WILL be remote. But first I’ll try a y-pipe...

under a shade tree: Then my 9-year old got home and helped me finish: And I couldn’t help but notice I think the return tee would work better under the passenger side intake bolts. As it would make the barbs horizontal instead of their current vertical orientation. Oh well, it’s done as...

I guess just to minimize any chance of head gasket failure. I think I have read where the rear two cylinders run the hottest due to lowest circulation, CDR….. I don’t begin to think I’m smarter than the Ford engineers and I think you are right (to fit most applications) Would you take the...

Passenger Side, Heater hose comes from heater core to middle of the head. Is it worth my time to move that to the back of the head? My gut tells me yes. There is a plug and I need to drain coolant anyways. See photo:
