    Fuel filter results

I'd like to put a water separator back in my ('87 6.9 n/a) system also. -Where is a good place to split the fuel line? - I thought I'd seen one that also had a fuel primer? I'd REALLY like one of those since my fuel gauge doesn't work and I don't know the condition of my showerhead. Any...

    Fuel filter results

Can I use that fuel filter on my '87 6.9 n/a that doesn't seem to have a water separator anywhere?

    Towing these trucks

I tried that once. I figured better to err on the side of too small (do you expect me fit in this?) than too big (you think I'm fat enough to fill this?). It doesn't matter. You're screwed unless it fits. And the odds of that happening are slim. Don't go there! lol

Coolant filter mounting bracket now available.

Good info. Thank you. I have a 1987 6.9 n/a and I assume that any casting sand is long gone? And, from what I've read here, only the 7.3 has reason to be concerned with SCA content and cavitation?

    Towing these trucks

True story. VT will trade your $ for their paper. Most of my dirtbike racing buddies get their registrations in VT and they don't live there.

My favorite line in that song is... "And when we tried to put in the bolts all the holes were gone"

Coolant filter mounting bracket now available.

Nice work! I'm a newb and didn't know I should filter my coolant. Give me the sales pitch on why I should have one and I'll probably be a buyer.

    Loss Prevention

I like the transfer case in neutral idea. As long as your e-brake works. ;-) Just another idea here. Hang a cell-serviced trail camera where you park at home. Out of reach. And have a sign alerting intruders to the camera. You can get them for $60 (and up). Basic service is @ $10/month. It...

    Normal oil pressures

I usually run Tractor Supply brand stuff as it's often the cheapest (and I've read tests on it being as good as any of them) but I grabbed a deal on Delvac (at Tractor Supply) and bought 20 gallons. But I'll be looking for a deal on some 5-40 for next winter.

    Normal oil pressures

That gives me peace of mind that mine is normal. Thanks. And I won't stress too much if I see 60 on a cold truck again. But I'll try to avoid it whenever possible.

    Normal oil pressures

I do usually use a block heater but only for a couple of hours before I'm going somewhere. When I know that I'm going somewhere. So...not today. Never seen 60 before so I was freaking out.

    Normal oil pressures

I'm running 15-40 Delvac. Normal oil pressure at idle says @ 18. When I'm driving it's @ 40-45. It's winter here (just above freezing this morning). I usually let it warm up until the high-idle kicks off. Today I had to run out on short notice so I only warmed it up for a minute or so. I was...

    650cca vs 850cca group 65 battery

That's nuts. I changed the timing belt on my old Nissan Pathfinder. (well, I brought in help for the smart part) And the damned water pump is behind that! So, obviously, I changed that while I was in there. Luckily, the 1st pump I bought was good. I was loosing sleep wondering if the pump was...

...and then there's battery heating pads.

    650cca vs 850cca group 65 battery

Another option is if you have an Interstate Battery store near you. Ask for a "blemish". They usually keep them in the back. They have no label on them and are cheaper than the "normal" ones but the ones I've bought are all still in use (and it's been quite a while since I bought any).

    6.9 Glow Plug System problems

What intervals are best for the life of the glow plugs vs getting a clean burn going? I've been holding about 8 seconds (in winter) and if it doesn't fire up with 2-3 seconds of key then I give it another 5 seconds of glow and then it usually fires right up. Then I give it 3-5 seconds of glow if...

    E4OD won't move from stop in D

I have no experience with the E4OD but I recently had to replace the neutral safety switch on my C6. Might be that? Easy fix (on the C6). It might even only need adjusting.

    7.3 idi knock

My air cleaner housing just has a hole in the bottom that fits over the outside of the intake. There's no bar across the hole on the bottom of the air cleaner housing. The intake has a metal mesh screen covering it and a bar within that screen with threads to accept the bolt that holds the air...

    Revive old batteries?

I buy all my batteries from Interstate. I go to one of their stores and ask for the "blemished" ones. They're "in the back". They have no label and no warranty. But they are much cheaper and all the ones I've bought have lasted longer than the vehicles that I bought them for. That said, a good...

    7.3 idi knock

I'm confused. Sorry. They all had it when new but I may not be able to use it? I haven't noticed any modifications done to my intake or lid. (not saying for sure though) I have the screen and bar across the intake that the lid bolt screws into. How would the lid be held on if there was no bar?

    7.3 idi knock

I have the mesh with lid hold down nut. Do you know if the dome lid will work on my intake? (if I can find one, or make one)

    7.3 idi knock

My '87 6.9 n/a doesn't have one. Are they available to buy? Sound like a cheap way to cut down on some of the noise in the cab.

    Idi vs super duty

Silly thing? But the triangle/wing windows is a big thing for me. They are very nice/handy for a cigarette smoker like myself.

First start after swap..Sealing water pump and bolts

I was under the impression that the hot method was more accurate than the cold (settled) method. But it's all over the stick after warming up and then going through the gears per the shop manual.
