    mechanical lift pump repairable?

If I was in a SHTF scenario and my mechanical pump stopped working and it was not easily disassembled like an old Carter pump I had on my 302 I would find another good pump that had the right bolt-up pattern and weld on an arm as close as I could get it to the right configuration so it would...

    Weirdest idi van ever?

It is funny you would post a picture and have an off-road VW in the background... I was just telling The Girl about people hot-rodding VW's in the 80's and how the suspension could be cranked up to put big tires on it... 'Goin' 4-Wheeling' was the fad where I lived back then. Jeeps and V-Dubs...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I know that I can't be the only one here that has a chunk of Buck or Schrade knife blade missing from an arc burn of trying to figure out why the car or truck won't start.... Or at least a funny-looking craftsman screw driver...

    Someone go get it!!!

Looks like it should be showcased in some kind of 'travel-from-coast-to-coast' movie... In that same page...check out the Shelby Mustang that already has a bid of 150K...

    Weirdest idi van ever?

Do you guys have any idea how tough it is to lift something like that on an electric-over-hydraulic asymetrical lift without whacking the running boards...?? Takes forever setting up the arms and pads to not damage anything and for it to be safe enough to work underneath it for anything you...

    Where to cut

I have a similar situation on my truck...it has two mufflers and the separate pipes come together in a 'U' (not a 'Y') and into a much larger pipe that goes out in a more-or-less normal fashion after the rear wheel... When I went to check out the truck before I bought it...it was plain that...

Is this excessive play in the steering joints or not? '89 F-350 4x4

Hallo Bart, Wie gehts..? If I were you in this situation I would approach it one of two ways or both... Ask to see the manual of guidelines for the technical inspection and read the section specifically involved with the pass/fail criteria on your steering system...then judge for yourself if...

    Rebuilding a 7.3 IDI Turbo

Lord...I didn't even know if that was a real word...but it is...dates back to at least 1830.... That is a good word...I am gonna hafta use it from.... time-to-time.... Back to the rebuild topic...I reckon I am going to have to source some of those Gator Studs.... Edit; again...when I look got...

So what did you do with your truck today?

    Where to cut

Hmm...sounds like this theory needs to be proven....with a before-and-after dragstrip test... Meaning no disrespect to your Dad...who is clearly your Elder and was your Mentor when you were just stable enough to get into everything and test his patience... Sometimes we grow up and learn...

    Where to cut

I tried to save some hard-earned cash on the exhaust on a late-eighties Ranger...about two-three years ago....I thought that I was pulling a slick one... The tailpipe was a pre-bent that I had scored offa craigslist oh--about ten years or so ago and I had adapted it on and ran it until it...

    Spinning Hub Stud

What I would try if it were me is to cut the nut off the stud any way you can...cutoff tool with a small cut wheel, put a gouge in it and whack it larger inside with a big chisel...if you have a torch then heat the nut up good and then cut it in two with the cutting tip...something along those...

    Rebuilding a 7.3 IDI Turbo

Once again...I am no expert...but....if you seach on this site you will get a few different opinions on the head bolts...on the main cap bolts I plan on using mine again unless they feel funny when I tug on them with a torque wrench...but it would be good for you to search here a bit more before...

    Detroit Axle Brakes?

I would be skeptical with any ceramic rotors...no matter where they are made... I did the rear brakes on the 'Girl Truck' (if you want a tirade on all of the 'inconvieniences' of the 'Girl Truck' then get me to start another thread...) Anyway...I replaced the drums and shoes...the parts were...

    Rebuilding a 7.3 IDI Turbo

I am no expert, but I would like to make you aware of a few things to help you not worry with the .010 shorter pistons... First of all...you are turboed, not NA...the more space you have in the combustion area when the piston is at TDC gives you a little more room to pack in air/fuel mix...

    Stumped: Glove Box Latch

Not tryin' to do anyone any favors...but I would hit up Goat for a good glovebox...seein' as how he seems to be combing the wrecking yards pretty often....or someone else that does the same... it just seems that Mr. Goat is what one would call a 'High-profile' 'yard comber... but not tryin' to...

    Stumped: Glove Box Latch

I consulted with an experienced entity on the subject of .458 persuasion and she recommended a limited-penetrating round that would stop hopefully at the bulkhead... Do you have any light weight hollow points....? Do we need to take up a collection and express them to you..?

Uhh....I would not DO that unless you want bigger, more expensive problems.... Wiring harness, heater core, blend door and cable, passenger side head, exhaust manifold, tire jack...etc....
