No Oil Pressure on 7.3 Idi

It sounds like you're testing it right, I second the port is probably plugged internally. Try this other port here, see if you get different results. I bet you have oil pressure. With only 3psi your engine would have been toast after a few days of driving.

No Oil Pressure on 7.3 Idi

So lets clear the air here... How many miles did you drive with the gauge showing zero oil pressure? Because if it was more than one, you would have had a glitter bomb in your oil pan, spun bearings, and potentially a locked up engine. How did you verify oil pressure with your mechanical gauge?

How bad is the HG job on a 7.3 IDI?

You don't need to clean the combustion surface or the valves, just the fire ring areas and head gasket surfaces and you'll be fine.

Second photo is the AC condenser. If it didn't work prior, I wouldn't sweat it. As for the oil cooler, I respect the ingenuity lol but otherwise nah sometimes they are just a bear to put together.

How bad is the HG job on a 7.3 IDI?

The one at home depot doesnt have the sharp edge on it that a machinists straight edge has. With rounded corners a feeler blade can push it up easier rather than more like a go/no go gauge. Heres what mine looks like. Notice, not a ruler, plain metal, its only supposed to be used as a machined...

How bad is the HG job on a 7.3 IDI?

That straight edge will not be sufficient, it is not machined. You'll need something like this. Easiest way to check for flatness is use a machinists straight edge and try to slide a 0.003" feeler blade in. No blade going in = good. As for the previous leakage, did it have the stamped metal...

Which block for mild build 6.9 or 7.3

    This is how much it cost for rockauto mahle pistons for my old mans truck, so I assume cost is per piston;

So what did you do with your truck today?

Had to go look it up, stock is 24 fins, turbo is 30, which is what this one is based off of, except its stainless. Eager to see if it helps with my tempersture saturation issue on my truck, and as a 'future proof' for my dads truck.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Had a pair of these show up, new from CDD, supposedly they have more fins than a stock one.... I forgot the gasket/o ring kit...

What about on board air? I have one for adjusting my air bags on the fly, all I would need to get an air hose hooked up would be a Tee fitting

    6.9 IDI questions

They are definitely high volume pumps. I once ran a semi with the oil feed line off of the turbo for 6 seconds. Easily a gallon all over the engine... The ground... the wall... Sheesh.

    6.9 IDI questions

That is sort of accurate. The oil pressure gauge is post oil filter. If the filter was restricted you would have higher pressure pre filter. Seems like these idis dont have high oil pressure to begin with. At idle all of mine sit at about 17psi, and revved up it jumps to 40ish

    7.3 IDI mystery oil leak

I have done a few. You can take the injection pump out, Then you take off the gear cover. If you leave the gear on the engine, it'll keep it in time. It is easy tp bump off though, so you have to be careful!

    7.3 IDI mystery oil leak

Oil cooler is on the drivers side  If oil is collecting in the valley pan, my money is on pump shaft O ring, or pump gear housing cover. It is only siliconed on, and after 20+ years im sure its a little... Tired

Unsure of getting a 7.3 after reading the cavitation article, looking for real world insights.

If an engine was going to cavitate it would have probably have done it by now. It is probably fine
