    ^^^THIS^^^ You could even use an extender with pipe fittings on the ends. Since it's just a boost gauge it reads pressure. The pressure will be the same no matter the size or shape of the pipe to the sender (at least close enough for the gauge).

    Is it a "skinny nut" as pictured above? If not, go to the hardware store and find a different nut to secure your alternator pulley. x2 on using Loctite. I don't recall if I used the lock washer on mine.

    I'd go with the Carter mechanical fuel pump if you want to stay OE. NAPA or Car Quest seem to have more reliable parts or professional sales folks than any of the other chains. That being said, I generally shop at the local O'Reilly's.

    x2 on checking the rocker arm movement on the driver's side AND running a compression test. If one of your cylinders has low compression you can do a leak down test to see if it's losing compression through the rings/valves/gasket.

    That's a bummer you've had trouble with Carter fuel pumps. It's a brand I recognize. Some other folks mentioned the Holley Red/Blue pumps earlier. They're a big name in aftermarket fuel pumps for hot rods.

    If it's cavitated can that be repaired with sleeves, or does that junk the engine? Machine work isn't cheap these days, and it might be difficult to find a machinist willing to work on an IDI let alone a marine engine.
