You can catch a lot of minor problems before they turn into to major problems by just going around and greasing a machine yourself. Doing basic maintenance is a good way of inspecting the machine.
I found that 6 degrees vs 8 gives the similar results.
The 6 degree reading may be a true 6 degrees, might be 5 might be 8. Take and add up possible variances in the crank, timing pointer/pickup tube/front cover, and the damper a couple of degrees seems very possible, not to mention variances...

I would say that since there is no water in evans coolant it will be much more resistant to cavitating. Evans coolant is great problem solver, I use it in my dirtbike so I can billy goat around on slow trails and not boilover.

That's not probably bad considering a mitsubishi turbo, and it is a pane to remove as some of the nuts are covered by the wastegate and very difficult to access.

Take a picture of the slip yoke. Does it have enough travel to extend when the rearend drops? Most the time the splines would pull past the seal, but the seal may be preventing it from pulling out and pulling on the carrier.

Mic fresh orings installed on a injector and compare. I am guesing about .010 to .020 interference. Also you will want to have chamfered edges for the orings on the step and outside edge.

There dead simple to pull apart, the only trick is the snap ring that is accessed form the top cover with two bolts and you will need some sort of spanner wrench to pull and inspect the accumulator, pump and filter.
