Anybody use oven cleaner to remove thick crusted grease on an engine? Could have sworn years ago I heard about using that. My dually I just used Purple Power or Simple Green let it sit and light pressure wash but that engine was cleaned before I bought the truck. My current one will most likely...
Yep - piss poor design on NA motors.
I caught mine before I tried to start it. It was winter and I had ice in the intake. Vacuumed out the water and pulled out ice chunks, drained the oil (2 qts of water), pulled the GP and did the ATF / MM oil soak and slowly barred her over a little at a...
Thank goodness I can log in from my work laptop! I have been remote last 5 weeks so that is VPN for me. Even in the office it works.
We are a bit loose on our restrictions though. Our risk managers need the ability to "stalk" social media for our comp claims.
Based on the lower quarters, door bottoms and cab corners I would be willing to bet at the very least the driver side floor is rusted out. Not saying it isn't fixable, just that real life might be different from the pictures.
Depending on the size of the company they can monitor bandwidth usage by address. My boss actually requested that report from my IT department for a coworker. In that case it is more about proving lack of bandwidth usage than it is about abuse. Some people think working from home is all about...
Not to hijack the original thread but IMHO design is now playing a huge part. I drive 121 miles one way leaving at 4:45 am. This time of the year I am driving in the dark pretty much both ways. Combination of highway and back roads. The new super duties with their C shaped stacked headlight on...
Mine let go at the base. Had a local guy do it for $220 in my driveway. He wire wheeled and sealed the minor rust. He mentioned Safelite would never have touched my truck due to surface rust.
Have not done this yet personally but plan to.

My dually was a certified truck when it was sold to the second owner. When I bought it I got all of the records, including a reprint of the window sticker. It was pretty cool having...
I like this. Honestly I have been afraid of doing this conversion on my truck. I'll rewire a house, panel, swap outlets and fixtures with the circuit live, can troubleshoot 3 ways but give me 12V DC and I become an idiot.
Before I got my dually I had a front brake line on a S10 repaired with compression fittings. That was back in early 2000's. Passed PA inspections in York county every year.
I say if you are going to pull a trailer, just replace the brake line and be safe. What part of PA you in?
I was thinking the same thing. Did he get "taken" a bit, yea probably in the sense that the truck is not running well. Is 6 bills being raped? Not in my book. Education is expensive, especially the school of hard knocks. We lost 6 figures on a house flip in the spring. Now that was an education!
When I got water in mine (cowl seal failure, discovered water in the intake) I ran MMO with AFT. As stated pulled the GP's squirted some in each hole. Let it sit overnight and tried to bar motor over. Never forced it, just repeated the process over 3 or 4 days until it would turn a full...
Tell me about it...in the last 60 days...
4 Toyo's for the Subaru
4 BFG Advantage T/A for Erica's dd
4 Michelin's for my dd
4 Milestar Grantlands for the truck
Put new shoes on my truck. Truck has been sitting for almost a year and the already dry rotted Michelins were done. Huge shout out to @laserjock for bring up tires and rims for my truck to sit on while the new tires were installed on my rims. Not only did he bring up the ones to borrow over...
Finally pulled the trigger and ordered 4 new tires for her. I'm only about 4 months behind schedule on where I wanted to be with the truck. Has not been started since last October. Plan to check a few things then fire her up and get the tires installed in the next week.
I need to install my new...
I also recommend the Fluke. Not sure of model (currently in the tool bag at a job) but looks like Scott's. Asked for it as a b-day present in 1986. (Knowing my dad it was probably expensed through Westinghouse at that time) I am not as protective of it as he is either. It has fallen off ladders...
Erica made landfall this morning so we did talk a bit. Seems Mt Airy will be on the way home from BWI. Not sure how long we will be there because we have to then go to Hanover to pick up Nicole and get school supplies so we can then make a college open house in Allentown Sunday morning. Bringing...
@catbird7 we can arrange a meet up later in the year
@laserjock - Erica is flying back from Charlotte at 3pm. Not sure if we will make it or not. Prior to her trip she seemed a bit determined to get me to be social so we shall see. I also need to get down to your place so we can go through what...
A while back I was talking about tires with Calvin and he recommended Ironman All Country from Tirebuyer.com
https://www.tirebuyer.com/tires/ironman/all-country-a-t/p/TV153000787
235/85/16 at $100.99 each.
Have not bought them so I have no opinion on them. The price is good. My Firestone store...
I would push back a bit Ray. As stated, what was in the contract?
On a side note this just happened to my wife. Signed a contract to have hardwood floors refinished. Contract had a set price, start (6/18) and completion date (6/25). Late yesterday they send a new contract and want $150 more...
I think part of the problem is for most people tires are a one and done purchase. Buy a car, go through a set, replace tires, trade car. That is not to say the customer service level for a lot of purchases now a days does not suck, nor should a "one and done" purchase be the cause of a lower...
