Come to think of it the tip of the glow plug for that cylinder was broke off so that could very well have added insult to injury.
I had noticed it wa broke but had forgotten by the time I got the valve covers off and saw the pushrod and broken bolt and then piston. That piston obviously took...
Thank you again for all the advice. I'm by no means a mechanic and this is my first time getting into an engine like this. I'll definitely do that with the oil.
I was already thinking of getting a whole set of pushrods and didnt think about the lifters. I only ordered 2 pushrods but I'm gonna...
Do I need to take the cover where the IP bolts to to get the valley plan out? I was trying to figure out how to get it out but wasnt sure and everyone says if you take that cover off itll get out of time.
Thanks I appreciate the advice. I actually managed to take it out the passenger side yesterday morning before work. It was a bitch because two pushrods were in the heads along with two bolts that because of the heater box I couldn't remove prior. I'll be taking that out before I put it back in...
I got all the head bolts out but I didnt know the exhaust manifold had to come out. Thank you.
Once every bolt is out does the heads lift out freely? I know they are almost 100 lbs from what I was told but besides the weight would I be able to just pull them by hand?
I'm trying to get the heads out now but I dont know what else to do. I got all the long head bolts out and the three that are in are loosened all the way. Just gotta get the heater box out the way. Anything you see I might not have done. I cant get this shit to budge
I've really not had as many issues as it might seem. I've just had a lot of questions. It was really just the bad injection pump and then my dumbass using the starting fluid that damaged the pushrod and heads. Other than that this truck has been great. It's only got 222k miles
Yeah I knew what they were called but I was having a loss of words and I already removed them. I was just being hesitant and jumped the gun posting this in full.
I've learned the hard way about starting fluid. I know that is what has caused all this and the head gasket needing replacement. I...
Engine has been hard starting/hydro locking from what others here have told me here since I used starting fluid to try to start a 94 IDI. So I'm digging in to change the heads and other gaskets.
After the starting fluid incident it made a loud popping sound while running and I was told it...
That's where I rented it from. It had all sorts of coloured caps but I saw now way to seal the radiator reservoir. I may rent it again Monday and try to seal off the reservoir. Maybe I missed something. But it definitely does this everytime and it was the next time I cranked it after the...
I'm sure its probably a head gasket because this all started as after I foolishly used starting fluid at the advice of a neighbor before I found out you shouldn't with the glow plugs
I already pressure tested it. I didnt know how to seal off the coolant reservoir so I folded the hose and zip tied it tight but the the pressure went down very slowly at 16 psi which is what the radiator is rated for.
I asked on another thread, when I was told to remove glow plugs and apply...
My tach sensor has oil in it which I'm sure isn't a good sign but not sure how it would even get there. But yeah when I accelerate it acts normal but as soon as I left off it drops to 0. Also my speedometer needle bounces as I accelerate
Would the coolant come out just one side if only one gasket is bad? I'm hoping I can identify which is in need of work so I dont get into one and it's the other
Thanks for the input. I'm ordering them shortly. I think you may be right. I marked the radiator reservoir to see if the fluid decreases and it did as did under the radiator cap. It didnt go down when I was driving it though. I attached pics of my oil dipstick. I've got less than 15 miles on...
I appreciate you trying to shine some light but if you were behind the wheel of this truck for a few minutes you'd know there is something serious that needs to be tended to. It acts completely different than before
It actually stopped wobbling after I hooked two melted vacuum lines up so I dont know. It definitely still squeals when I cut the wheels. I'll get a better video later
