    Automatic hubs

DaytonaBill, Ford did offer a hub parts kit for the auto hubs. I bought a couple of them a few years ago. No idea if they are still available but I will get you a part number when I get back home later. The parts kit included a new hub cap o-ring, new cap bearing and spring, key, locking ring...

Opinions needed! Ford factory IDI turbo kit

After about a week, I could tell from the swinging voltmeter needle that another glow plug had died. Sure enough, old No. 7 was dead again. My bad, but when it died the first time, I installed one of my many used (but tested good) glow plugs I have on hand. This time, I put in a new one, and got...

My facet mechanical to electric fuel pump conversion review.

Do you have a pic or part number of this adjustable swedgelock relief valve? I assume this valve will alllow you to limit the fuel pressure that the IP sees? Is this the Facet pump you are considering using?https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=9671

Opinions needed! Ford factory IDI turbo kit

Well, not everything is rosy in turbo land, sportsfans. I got in the truck to go home from work Thursday night, and the wait to start light went out after about 7 seconds, and the voltmeter needle was swinging rapidly left and right. Uh-Oh - I know what that means - at least one glow plug has...

My facet mechanical to electric fuel pump conversion review.

When I dropped my tanks years ago now to fix the broken showerheads, I found the original showerheads had disintegrated into many little tiny bits of black plastic. Kudos to the Ford Engineers who spec'd plastic for the showerheads in diesel fuel tanks that was not "diesel compatible".:backoff

My facet mechanical to electric fuel pump conversion review.

With the Facets, some mount them on the frame by the tanks as pushers, and some mount them in the engine bay like I did and use them as pullers. The push vs. pull has been debated on here a lot, but the general consensus is that the Facets will work okay either way.

    Lift kits?

That is right-the track bar will end up a bit "short" since there will now be more distance between the axle and frame due to the 4" lift. The drop bracket will bring the frame end of the track back down to where it was before the lift. Without the drop bracket, the track bar will tend to "pull"...

My facet mechanical to electric fuel pump conversion review.

I am a bit disappointed in my Facet as well, although I do not have the restricted filter light coming on. I have an in cab electric fuel pressure gauge (no I don't have a fuel line running into the cab LOL). When the key is on with the pump running but the engine off, the gauge reads 6psi. When...

    Lift kits?

You will definitely need to retain the track bar, otherwise it is likely you will get death wobble. Skyjacker provides a drop bracket for the track bar because that is cheaper than providing a longer and adjustable track bar. Either one should work fine but the adjustable bar may allow you to...

    Timing Meter Availibility

Thanks for continuing your meter rental program, Gary! I don't need to rent the meter right now, but is nice to know you are still renting them.

Suspension choices with pros and cons

Makes a swap to the D60 look like a real bargain, doesn't it. I can't believe there is a market for that kit. If you want coil springs that badly, swap in a setup from a newer Ford truck (is it 2011 and up?) with coils, radius arms and more importantly, the straight axle!

    R&D IDI

It recently took 6 weeks to receive the rebuilt injectors I ordered from Justin. And yes, I sent the cores in first. It states right on his website something to the effect that "it takes a while" if the part is not in stock. I certainly cannot complain about the quality of the injectors - they...

    direct replacement fuel switch valve!!

I would guess these are Chinese knock offs, but if they work at that price, it is a great deal compared to the $300 cost of an OEM valve.

    Gooseneck towing mirror glass removal

The black rubber gasket does hold the glass in place, and that is it. I am not sure how you get the glass out without breaking it. I tried putting new glass in after I broke one of my mirrors and I broke the new glass as well. If you figure out the secret of replacing the glass without breaking...

    Cold blooded idi loaping

If your truck is starting without the block heater being plugged in and it is 4°, I would be really happy with that, even if it misses occasionally after it starts.

    Champion Radiators for the IDI

Sorry to hear about your radiator, Catbird, but thank you for posting up your experiences so others will know. My 3 row core champion is still working fine (knock on wood).Getting a refurbished OEM brass/copper radiator should resolve your radiator issues for a very long time.

How did you get into an IDI?

I bought a 1985 F250 bullnose std. cab 4x4 with the 6.9 and a 4speed in 1989. The truck was a clapped out farm truck, but I wanted something "different" and did not want something computer controlled. It smoked badly when I purchased it, but after I had the IP rebuilt, it ran great and pulled...

    Gas tank for Diesel?

I have always "heard" that diesel fuel will dissolve zinc galvanizing. These molecules of zinc are then carried in solution in the diesel and end up in the IP and injectors, ruining those fuel system parts.

    Glow plug connectors-really good ones

For those with the factory harness where the plastic around the connectors is crumbling but the terminals are still good, these gp boots for the humvee MIGHT work - I say might as I have not tried them myself, but they look like they could work. At $10, I would buy them if the plastic insulation...

    FS 1986 F-250 6.9 Diesel 4x4 $8,500

Here in Wisconsin, that truck would bring that price without too much trouble. The bullnose trucks around here have all passed away long ago. Almost never see one. Now, if it was a 4 speed rather than a C6, it would would sell even faster. She's a beauty though.

Opinions needed! Ford factory IDI turbo kit

Well, I finally got the darned cross over pipe to seal. It must have gotten a little bit bent when transporting the motor and the passengers side flange would not seat tight to the end of the pipe and wye due to interference between the studs and the bolt holes in the flange. I opened up the...

Opinions needed! Ford factory IDI turbo kit

I have considered the switch to an electric vac pump and will probably do that in the near future. Did you figure out a correct serpentine belt length when the belt driven vacuum pump is deleted? I still have an exhaust leak at the cross over pipe connection to the "y" part of the up pipe. I...

Opinions needed! Ford factory IDI turbo kit

Oh, yeah, I can see that having a turbo is not going improve fuel mileage at all! I can't keep my foot out of it. This is another one of those mods (like hydroboost) that I wish I had done much sooner. The cross over pipe was leaking at the connection to the "Y" part of the up-pipe, but even so...
