Kent Moore J33300 timing kit questions

I spent about half a day with both the mag pickup and a serious timing light. After all that effort, I got to the same place by just being on the edge of no crackle after warm up.

    Faucet Pump

My supply (lift) pump is a simple pulsating unit. It is switched such that it will run either when there is oil pressure, always, or never. A couple times I have driven of with the pump turned off. I drove three miles at fifty MPH, and the engine did not seem to notice. The injection pump...

    Fuel Sending Unit Suggestions

One reason they will read empty is that the float leaks and sank. And where I could not get a unit that fit the tank, I have spliced what was available to the original mounting part.

    Tilt wheel U joint

The first indication I got was that the U joint was not serviceable. But it is. The bearings are hard steel balls in hard steel sockets. I disassembled, cleaned, lubed, re-assembled, and adjusted. About twelve hours over three days. The joint is a simple design. Access is interesting. The...

    Tilt wheel U joint

I have tilt steering wheels in several 70-90 vehicles. Best I can determine, they are all the same on top. The one in my 84 E350 has developed a sloppy U joint. The lower and upper shafts and joint are a single part. So far I have not found a replacement shaft. There are complete rebuilt...

    REAL LED HEADLIGHTS

When there were only four headlight designs the aftermarket could do a lot. But since the manufactures decided that every make and model would have unique headlights, all you are going to get from the aftermarket is bulbs. And that is what headlightrevolution.Com is. I have a 2001 E350. The...

    REAL LED HEADLIGHTS

I have LEDs in my 2001 E350. The light is stronger and it is white. I will try to find the source. But, for "real" LED headlights you need old style - round and rectangle, small and large. In the last couple years there has been an explosion of designs. Some pics are below. The ones in my...

    What rebuilt IPs are available?

The concept of a "dead horse" subject, is one that has been settled now and forever. For anyone running an IDI, the IP system is the most alive horse in the vehicle, and the least generally understood. I did search the forum. There is a bunch of interesting stuff there, but I assume suppliers...

    What rebuilt IPs are available?

My current IP has a few years on it. I want to replace that one and get a spare. I have a couple loose units. I got a seal kit, but decided that building IPs is a career I don't need. I have a 7.3 turbo in a 9K# van.

    Bonded or riveted brake shoes?

You mentioned D80. Are you working a D80 or D70. Both my E350s have D70 bus rear ends. You CAN over tighten tapered roller bearings. You are adjusting it cold, it will warm and expand a bit. If you have ratcheting nuts, you have better control if you have a proper wrench. Both mine use a...

    Bonded or riveted brake shoes?

Drum brakes are out of sight and out of mind. The brass rivets will contact the drum long before the lining is gone. Those brass rivets will silently carve groves in the drum deep enough that the drum cannot be saved by turning it. My IDI is a 9K# dually. The bonded rear brake shoes are from...
