Vw tdi's are a common swap. I think extreme 4x4 has a build on a truggy with one. I believe they ran it on wvo also.

I doubt it's factory, when I did the poly bushings, I drove a wedge in to open the eye a little.
Are you using oem style bushings?
Is it just a tack, or a full weld?

Depending on the year, could be your icp sensor too.
I know the glowplug harnesses will leak like a sieve as well.

I've seen a bad gpr cause some weird issues. Basically like they were back feeding to the pcm and shutting it down. Wouldn't start unless disconnecting it.

Just the way it functions. It will open under hard throttle. It should shut off at operating temp, but you could have a bad temp sensor.
You really don't need it. It's annoying if you have a straight pipe.

The second noise you are hearing is likely the ebpv. You can disable it.
For the flywheel, just replace it. Could be cracked as well.
It's possible your tc is making noise, but they normally sound like marbles in a blender at idle.

Forscan is great, but better if used from a laptop, the phone app is a shortened version.
For phone apps: torque pro and car gauge pro are great. If you have a android you need a bluetooth obd2 adapter. I still recommend the obdlink brand ones.
I think for iPhone you have to use the wifi ones...
I think it's pretty quiet. Just a electromagnet moving a tiny needle.
I'll ask again, are you viewing live data? If not, you're pissing in the wind.
Need to look at icp, ipr duty cycle, and rpm.

I know a guy that has a obs powerstroke, the whole underside was coated with expanding foam. Not sure the reasoning or thought process.
