So what did you do with your truck today?

Picked up the truck from the shop today. New: brakes all the way around -rear axle yoke -e brake cables -tie rod ends -front axle shaft u joint -rear driveshaft u joints -king pin bushing replacement -oil change I think that was the bulk of the work. Brakes are awesome, time for hydroboost and...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Something VERY different. I dropped my truck off at the local garage for new brakes all the way around, new rear axle yoke, king pins, front 4wd issues, oil change and a few oil leaks to address. A new job that keeps me really busy is forcing a new way of life. I want my truck to enjoy when I'm...

So what did you do with your truck today?

You may need to advance the timing a bit. Should be quiet at idle when warm but cackle like an old 7.3 PSD on cold high idle.

Put 2 used glowplugs in yesterday. 23deg, 16sec gp cycle time, 1/2 second of cranking to start, success. Also put some new LED reverse lights on. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk

So what did you do with your truck today?

Took a couple of days and visited my Dad in Delaware. Truck drove well despite axle yoke issues and metal to metal breaks as I contemplate what to do with my rear axle and brakes. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk

2014 Rally plans and ideas to kick around and talk about

The Battleship New Jersey is a great idea, something I have not seen myself! Cowtown Rodeo would definitely be something to do as well. There are some ocean tours out of AC but I would venture to say that seeing a whale may not be a guarantee. Thanks Mike for some great ideas to add. Sent from...

Rear disc and axle upgrades for our trucks?

Dodge uses srw D80's with an 8 on 6.5 bolt pattern. I may go measure my buddy's and get a feel for fitment. I'm sure the F-Superduty brakes would be a custom fab. I ha e a feeling they would be way overkill for a 3/4 or 1 ton truck but an adjustable proportioning valve would make up for that. I...

    7.3 Vs. 6.6 Durajunk

My employer has a few d-maxes, they all run really strong. The '12 is a freaking hot rod, the '05 is a loaded cowboy cadalliac, pulls 18,000lb g/n with ease. I wouldn't want any of them on a personal level but I really can't fault the trucks, they are nice. Ford's are like Visegrips, they age...

Rear disc and axle upgrades for our trucks?

I found an E350 srw disc brake axle for $750, haven't called and asked what ratio yet. It would be pointless to buy for the sole purpose of robbing the brakes when I need work done to the rear in my truck. The F-Superduty uses rear discs, I wonder how hard it would be to fab them up on a srw...

    i tested some glowplugs today.

I would venture to say that they all will blow if you let them eat for a minute or more at a time. There isn't any cold metal to draw the heat away from them either. I'd say your test may provide good insight as to how they heat up but that's about it. I'd save the rest of the good ones for...

Rear disc and axle upgrades for our trucks?

Do the spring mounts need to be moved out or in? I would tend to believe that moving the mounts in would detract from the weight carrying capacity. I wouldnt mind a bit wider of a track width.

Rear disc and axle upgrades for our trucks?

Well, my rear axle needs a yoke and the brakes are shot. I thought about swapping for a '93 up 10.25 to get the upgraded yoke but now I would like to see what my options are for getting rear discs. Would a '99 up E350 van rear get me where I need to be? I want to keep 8 on 6.5" pattern all the...

Bad grounds can cause an erratic reading on the tachometer. I have even seen the tach drop 200rpm's when the head lights are turned on. 4:10's net you around 2500rpm's@75mph. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk
