    Tire options 2018

Those are the ones. I’m not a fan now lol Heard awesome reviews so I bought a set of 235/85r16 but at 80psi they felt like they had 20psi. Side walls were so soft I felt unsafe, they got returned in less than 500 miles I have geolanders on my jeep, same opinion :) I had those on my old...

    AutoMeter pyrometer malfunction

Mine did this too. They want me to ship it to them. Kinda hard to do so I left it anticipating buying a new one and it just started working again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Turbo trouble

I understand they’re different between the manual and auto but I didn’t know if there was a difference between the t19 and zf5 kits. They couldn’t answer which one I should buy for my 83 6.9 with a zf5 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Turbo trouble

02/14/18 from hypermax email “Hi Austin, The turbo is a Garrett T-4 mount, they make it to our specs. We sell new turbos for $985, we can rebuild your turbo for $375 (that includes new bearings and seals), or you can buy a rebuild kit (includes bearings and seals) for $165. We do offer all the...

    Turbo trouble

I messaged them about a hypemax kit that came on a truck I got. They offered a rebuild kit, new turbo, and turbo rebuilding service. With their prices, I decided when it needs a turbo I’d just get something like a 200sx. That customer service experience was good. Recently I decided I wanted to...

    Gear wear

Here’s a picture I took of the gear pattern when building my rear axle. Mine runs a little closer to the heal than what I was shooting for but it’s still a good pattern. Most axle shops like Randy’s ring and pinion or east coast gear supply sells a specific gear pattern paint. Backlash is...

    Gear wear

I just did a 30k mike check on my new(ish) gears last night and yours look just like mine. Pinion bearings could be bad, but gears look fine Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Motor mounts lined up perfectly? I’ll be following this thread. I have an 88 with a slight knock and blown head gasket lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Boost troubles

With that said, I’d lean more towards a worn IP. Is it ever hard to start when the engine is warm but starts fine when cool? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Boost troubles

I agree with worn pumps perform worse when hot. I’m no scientist but I have a theory too lol. My truck is n/a and smokes a lot when it’s hot out side and barely any in extreme cold. Hot air has less o2 so less fuel is burnt and more smoke is produced. Maybe your igniting less fuel which would...

    Low boost

I agree with these guys on what to look for and replace. Has the truck started smoking more or less since the boost started to drop? More smoke could be an up pipe leak or plugged air filter and less smoke could be a clogged fuel filter Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Axle Swap Question:

I did my first gear set on a 10.25 that’s in my truck now. Also put a truetrac in. I was nervous going in to the project but with my new tools, lots of research, and patients, I’ve put almost 20k miles on my new rear axle. If you’re mechanical inclined, you can do a gear set. Look up my build...

Questions about rear leaf springs and hard ride

I mainly drive my 83 f350 but sometimes drive my 96 f150. Both single cab long bed. Both trucks I run 30psi rear unless I’m towing and I honestly can’t tell any difference in the ride. I also know nothing about the shocks on either of them but I do want to put bilstiens on. Sent from my...

    Turbo Setup Poll

I think with the low(er) boost numbers most of us run it would be super cool to see some time put in developing a compound setup that produced 4-6psi cruising and 20psi before 1800rpm unloaded. I’ve always associated compounds with low rpm/high boost, essentially fixing the supercharger vs turbo...

    Money Pit #2 Won't run.

Ok, earlier in the thread I posted this but it wasn’t acknowledged. I literally JUST went through this. Truck ran ok off the factory tanks but leaked fuel horribly. I put new injector return lines, new glow plugs, new facet duralift and moved fuel line to a 5 gallon can hanging off the passenger...

    6.9 High idle switch

I’ve wanted to do this but I can’t think of a way to kick the high idle on with out also turning on the cold advance. Pretty sure they’re wired together. I like the automatic high idle shut off so I really don’t want it to be switched only Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Stickers.

My first idi was my grandfathers that past so I would have a hard time putting a “boob” sticker on it but I would probably put a smaller “oilburners.net” sticker on. He started it, you guys expanded it :). My Jeep has a “I’m on wranglerforum.com” sticker that I proudly support Sent from my...

D60 3.55s stock size tires or 4.10s 33 and up tires

I built a 10.25 for my 83. I went with 3.73 and a Detroit Truetrac. I’m very happy with the diff, gears are good for dd, but every time I hook to a trailer I wish I would’ve went 4.10. That’s on stock tires. 33s hands down 4.10 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Safe pyro temps for 7.3 psd

I’ve always assumed it was because the computer can control the air/fuel ratio. Not over fueling, it would run cooler. When I turned my pump up 2 flats I saw about 200* increase, 4” exhaust dropped it 100* though. I’m n/a though so ignore this post if necessary lol Sent from my iPhone using...
