Excuse my ignorance but m not very versed on the turbo engines. Is there a way to take the turbo out of the equasion.? Unbolt it from the intake, drive it and see if any oil is running out of it?
The Astrix could mean anything. Mopar added different designations for an under size crank journal or an over size lifter hole.
Maybe ihc did too?
Yours may be an employee added it for fun after he test ran it. Or maybe a different plant built it etc.
Don't change the oil and filter yet. Doing that will make it run longer with no oil than starting it with the old oil and filter.
Old oil now is better than waiting for new oil. Once it's running and has oil pressure you can shut it down and change it.
I drove ours through mammoth,ca. About 8000 ft. I was not loaded. Power seemed to be the same but I fumigated every intersection without trying.i was certain that the libtards in the area were ready to hang me.
Thats very high. Offer 1/2 that. Not too many people other than the few on this board want these trucks. The power strokes do go for much more.
There are a few common issues like glow plug relays, electrical connections with too much resistance etc but the guys on this board can direct you to...
The aftermarket radiators and tanks are very thin. They flex every time the thermostat opens and a wall of water hits it. That along with the 13 psi cap.
Your truck looks just like mine. Dont worry about the trans cooler in the other radiator. Nothing will leak out of them if you dont plug them. It pumps atf to the rad,not take coolant back to the trans like so many people assume.
Anytime you put heat(torch to repair) to a radiator this old...
I replaced mine trying to cut my oil burning. Didn't make any difference. What does make a difference is a clean air filter. Once it starts getting restricted oil usage goes way up.
