Good you asked. Auto-RX seems to be one of the few additives where it is hard to find a detractor. There are a lot of people that run solvent based cleaners and a lot of those cleaners on the shelf at the auto parts store. There are also a lot of reports of problems with solvent based...
Good post BigDiesel. I have an intake chuff. It is quite noticeable with the lid of the air cleaner partly lifted. Compression test a few months back showed good compression on all 8 (440-455, 475 high). I suspect it is going to look like Al's right bank when I pull my valve covers. :(
RLDSL is an advocate of auto-rx. He doesn't much care for solvent based flushes which auto-rx IS NOT. See here for one of the reasons he posted he doesn't like solvent flushes.

Where did you hear this? I haven't met anyone that said it broke loose large chunks and plugged an oil galley or the pump pickup or anything like that.
From the response from auto-rx, cleaning is best if using dino oil. They didn't say you can't use synthetic. I followed their...
pennsylvania,
The container the coolant came in seems to be sturdy and you can squeeze them in more places. You can get a universal one from the windshield wiper store for $10.
What a bummer. I think I'm going to have to look into my intake chuffing noise while my compression is still good.
You should put that piston on the front porch for halloween to scare any kids that come by.
Did I just quote myself?
If an autoparts store wouldn't change the pulley for me while I was standing there, I would find a new store to shop at. I would spend the $25 on a pulley and take it as a good lesson learned.
Regardless, glad to see you got it going again. I'm guessing you had...

Excellent tech. A couple items on the compression tester for people who haven't done this before. ALWAYS relieve the pressure before popping the quick connect or wear some ear plugs and have lots of spare o-rings on hand. It will sound like a rifle going off and blow the o-ring to hell. The...
Not worried about shavings in the pan. Pour a couple quarts in afterward and drain them out. Install a magnetic drain plug and done. If any shavings are floating around, they will get caught in the oil filter.
You can also get an oversized one that has a miniature drain plug in the middle...
gdhillion,
Hot to the spade connector. Ground to the body of it. The brass rod should extend.
As far as my mention of A/C, that was in regards to carburetors. Those come on gas vehicles, not diesels.
gd,
From the cab, turn key on, press pedal to floor and start.
From the engine bay, have someone get in cab and turn key. You should see the brass bolt extend to touch the throttle lever. Press back on the throttle lever and the brass bolt should follow it.
Or take a hot wire...
You might try contacting your DEQ and seeing if they specify a minimum cetane number in the fuel. Or you could come down to California and get some at least 53 cetane fuel. Hydrometer won't help you as the test is designed for straight from the distillation column fuel, not crappy fuel with...
It's been awhile. Doesn't that pulley have a ring around the small part just like a power steering pulley? The auto parts store will have a puller to take it off and a bolt and washer or piece of allthread, nut and washer is used to put it on. Make sure you look at how it is aligned so you...
Since your filter is only half full, you know it is a fuel delivery problem. I would check all the stuff you did already to make sure you haven't created a place for the fuel pump to suck air. When you say, "directly lined to the rear tank," do you mean you have one piece of hose from the tank...
