    7.3 Idi running engine

Bought a 90? Parts truck. I put a pump on it to make it run, PO has the injection lines all messed up and #7 injector is cross threaded. No oil in coolant, no coolant in oil. I do not know the miles but there is no blow by, it has air intrusion but it still starts pretty good. I have a video...

All injectors were sold. Done with that wiring manual yet?

6.9/7.3idi air to water intercooler. Marine injection pump, etc.

Anyone else notice the pump linkage is backwards? No advance plunger and linkage on the passenger side like a truck. If I still had an Idi truck I would be putting that after cooler on for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    IDI Serpentine Belt

I found the same thing after I stripped the tensioner bolt. I was pulling on it so hard to get the belt on that it pulled the threads out. Bought the 113" ambulance belt and the truck threw it off too. I like a serpentine system but my idi's will remain V belts after that venture. Sent from...

    C6 auto..reliability?

My 86 4x4 with 3.55's weighed in at 6k lbs with the fuel tank and tool box combo in the bed. Daily drive was 120 miles, all 4 lane highway with typical PA rolling roads. I averaged 15 mpg. 1 time I got 20 mpg on a trip up north with no tool box. I was happy without a lock up converter. Sadly...

    C6 auto..reliability?

It depends on what your definition of "tough as nails" is. My first IDI was an 86 6.9 with a c6. When the engine locked up I put a 7.3 with a hypermax kit and the c6 never complained pulling a 10k trailer. Guy I sold the trans to is still running it in a plow truck and can't believe how good...

    Broken rusty head bolt...ideas?

If you heat just the bolt the expanding and contracting of it with the hole drilled in help break the rust free. I've had better luck in the past doing that rather than heating the surrounding area. Less chance of weakening the block in that area too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Broken rusty head bolt...ideas?

Drill a small hole in it first. Heat just the bolt red with torches. Go get a beer, sit down and drink it. 2 if it's been a bad day. Now that it's cooled off keep soaking it and grab it with some good pliers. If that doesn't work I'd weld a washer to it flush with the block, then weld a...

    Turbo pump on N/A?

    Steel fuel lines

It also looks like your missing the vibration dampener clamps. That's probably why that line broke in the first place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1983 6.9 engine oil cooler bypass kit?

I was thinking they were closer to the block but after the last post on pretty sure they do sit lower on the block and the oil filter points slightly toward the rear instead of straight down like a truck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1983 6.9 engine oil cooler bypass kit?

Yes a medium duty and van's use a different oil cooler than a truck. I use to have one, wish I would have taken pictures of the difference but you also need a driver side manifold for the oil cooler clearances Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Well here I go...

I'm not worried. 1/4 T is welded to a plate and bolted to the block so there shouldn't be too much vibration in the lines. If they leak, I'll fix it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Well here I go...

Yes I eliminated the olives. I do not like them. They work, but eventually leak. I couldn't fit #4 hydraulic line so I went with inverted flare to 1/4 NPT Tee and I'll run #6 hydraulic line from pump to filter and filter to engine.

    Well here I go...

I was really thinking about plugging the factory feed holes and drilling, tapping, brazing 1/4 NPT fittings on the fuel rail drain plugs on the back of the heads. Drivers side would be easy, passenger would look like Dr. Seuss made it. But why reinvent the wheel for an easy fix with 1/4 brake...

    Well here I go...

Well the engine is getting closer to drop in. Defiantly going with e-fuel Got all new o-rings, plugs and sealant all around the engine Made up some new fuel lines to the heads, I'm happy enough how they turned out and it clears the turbo and pedestal. Things are starting to look...

transfer case help needed. poor favor.

It's been a while since I was going through yokes and drive shafts once a week but I'm pretty sure that: 1310 width with 1350 caps is a 1330. I broke lots of 1330 and a fair amount of 1350 yokes and universals. Lots of power and traction with way too much axle wrap will do it every time. My...

On my bronco When I went from 31x10.50x15's and 3:55's to 35x12.50x16.5's and 4:10's my 65mph cruise RPMS stayed the same. Not sure if that helps ya but that's my real world experience. I'll say I've also never had much trouble towing 10k lbs with a NA 6.9 c6 and 3.55's Sent from my iPhone...

    Oil cooler R&R question.

Aftermarket is fine. Some say it's easier to bolt the front header in first then try to install the cooler bundle with the rear already installed. I prefer installing them whole. Just apply some aviation gasket sealant to both sides of the Gasket and it will stick to the headers Sent...
