I definitely agree with that , but I also have OCD and some things just can't be ignored. Also , even though the truck is older and not perfect I still want to keep it as nice as possible. The fitment wasn't even close. It had to be tweaked and pushed really hard to even line it up , and there...
Has anyone else had fitment issues with the glow shift pillar pod? I bought the 4 gauge one.. The color isn't even close to matching and the fitment is absolutely horrible! I'm sending it back on Monday. It is pretty disappointing. I'm tired of having gauges laying on the trans tunnel , I need...
I have put a few thousand miles on it with the rough idle , trying all sorts of cocktails.. Nothing seemed to help at all. So I finally had the time to swap injector pumps and she's finally running right! I'm so glad to have that fixed , it really bugged me. :) :peelout
The truck has been running great aside from the rough idle/miss. Just got back from the coast. The truck did great. The next day I went out to start it and it would just shut off when letting off the throttle instead of returning to idle.. I figured the IP finally gave out , or the metering...
I backed the timing off a hair the other day and she hit 13lbs boost unloaded :popcorn. She still had more in her but I knew that I was pushing it on this old 6.9 and backed off. It still idles like sheet. I'm starting to think I have one or more injectors not sealing. There was some carbon...
You don't need a timing light if your timing tube on your engine is solid. The meter comes with the mag probe. I just have to use a light because my timing tube is wonky and moves around.
On this meter you can clamp any basic timing light around that metal bar on the back of the meter in the picture above. It's a very versatile meter :) .
I have a banks transcommand on my e4od. I've had e4od's in the past and I expected this one to shift firmer.. But it actually shifts pretty mushy. It doesn't slip , it just has extremely soft shifts. The trans is a low mile reman. The FIPL is on the higher side of adjustment ( 1.2@idle and...
I did the same thing on my first IDI. I fired it up ONCE and went inside. Then I read about them and pulled them immediately and some were already swollen.
This is the meter I use. I love it.

I do need to do that. I was thinking I might look for a small waterproof box to put it in but I'll probably just put dielectric grease on it and run it for now . I will be putting the wires in wire loom at least.
The Holley definitely improved low end performance. The wiring kit seems a bit backwards. The way that it is setup ( long wire from relay to battery , short wire from relay to pump ) makes the relay have to be mounted on the frame... I would have rather had the two wires switched so that the...
I finally got the Holley Red swap done. It was wet and dark when I finished so I don't have any pictures of it installed but I'll get some soon. I made some rubber spacers to bring the pump out from the frame a bit and also possibly help with vibrations. It's mounted on the frame rail right in...
I scored some free stepping stones today :D. I noticed my egt gauge is finicky and doesn't always read correctly. Hopefully it's just a loose wire. I tossed together a fuel pump block off plate from some scraps laying around and I will be working on getting the Holley installed today. I have...
A big issue with return kits is the cheaper quality ones often times have small burrs that damage the o-ring as they are pressed on. I'm pretty sure Pensacola is in the "Hall Of Shame" . @typ4 's kit ( russrepair.com ) would have been a better choice.
If you have a 6.9 with the original valley pan then yes you need to poke a few drain holes. If it has been replaced it likely has the updated valley pan that does not require the extra holes.
Hmm , how bout that. It wasn't backwards after all lol. It just doesn't fit the curve of the tailgate very well. I cranked on it and it didn't want to move. I'm pretty sure it's my rubber mat keeping it from sliding. I'll toss a tarp down first next time and see if that makes a difference. But...
I don't know yet but I'm sure it won't work as good with it on backwards haha. I was in a hurry throwing it on before they closed and I put the mounts on backwards. :oops:I noticed that when I got home. I'll fix it tomorrow and try it out. I have a feeling it won't work with my thick rubber mat...
