    Everything should fit other then maybe drive line. No computer to worry about as the engine does not need or use one. Steering column can leave , just remove shifter handle. never have done it myself , but with both trucks in front of you just start comparing things.

    This list is not complete in not showing that in fact in 1993 the factory IDIT 8th position should be a C. The information I posted comes from a 1993 7.3 IDI Turbo Diesel Ford service Manual Supplement.

    You are reading it wrong , Vin position 8 with a C is a IDIT

    If was me doing it , the engine would go in first then the transmission. In is very hard getting the engine in with the 5sp in place. Ask me how I know. :(

    Those bowels as you call them are the rocker arms, a left handed bit normally will spin the bolt out. When you used ether did you disable the glow plug system. NEVER NEVER use ether with an active glow plug system. It can and will cause damage, could be what broke the bolts and push rods...

    A lot of guys shops just time them by ear anymore. Its the only way I have done mine. Also pretty hard to even find a shop that has one anymore. How does it run set at the factory marks and what kind of problem are you having now with it.

    For what it is worth. My father in law had one in a 97 7.3 dually with auto pulling a large triple axle 5th wheel. After a while pulled it out because he had to much trouble with it.

    If you get a ZF5 get the close ratio one for pulling that kind of weight. Had the wide ratio in mine and it was no good for pulling what I do. Have no experience on the ZF6 .

    You would need to pull water pump then front timing cover plate to insure pump gear does not jump when pulling the pump cover where your leak is. Although more work is probably your best route. Either way the pump and lines have to come off first. After that could pull the pump cover and if...

    You would have to be extremely careful pulling the pump cover without pulling the whole front end off.
