I went back to the Holley and I’m back at 6psi and it runs down to 3psi.
I guess I overthought my fuel situation and jumped the gun without doing my homework!
Hey all,
Today I replaced my Holley red that ran key on at 6psi. I went with the Duralift 40285 supposedly for reliability but it won’t give me more than 3psi. I had ordered 2 to have a spare so I swapped them and same result.
All pumps were mounted in the same place, about 2 feet in front of...
@FrozenMerc good info. I have extra tube and would like to extend it but I’ll have to move the driver side battery first. I was hoping the open air here would be better than the heat trapped inside the dog house right on top… but I didn’t think about being right behind the radiator. Still feels...
Hey all, here’s my intake I just put in. It’s my first go so I know it can be improved, so I’m curious everyones thoughts. I know it’s not the best filter location but I was happy how naturally it fit here without moving anything. Everything fit perfect with 5” reducing elbow to 4.5”, then ran...
My only question is timing on cyl #1 vs #4 on the van if anyone knows the difference.
As far as needing an extra wrench for a van you don’t. I use one ground down 9/16 and can reach all 3 bolts pretty easy. I go through the dog house for the passenger lower nut but it’s pretty easy to get to.
I’ve got an 89 NA idi in a van with a reman in it as well as new injector lines for the truck with no timing adapter. I figured the engine didn’t know it was in a van and timed it on the first cylinder to 7* btdc. Result was tons of white smoke and no power so I checked the timing on cylinder 4...
Intro post for me. Bought my first diesel 4 years ago; 89 Clubwagon that sat in a yard in Fairbanks AK for 12 years. With no rust and a Dana 60 front axle I wasn’t going to pass.
Since then I feel like I’ve got most the quirks out. After endless e40d issues and a shop robbing me blind I swapped...
Well now I REALLY feel like a rookie. Ofcourse everyone on here was right. “Sounds normal, just loud exhaust”... the muffler wiggled itself loose, and as far as the oil leak it was just leaking from the oil pan gasket and whipping up in there just as Bart suggested. Thanks all. Still learning
Ok it’s good to know it doesn’t sound unusual other than loud, I did find this oil leak between the bell housing and engine on the passenger side above the starter. It was bubbling when it was running. Main seal?
Video link to hear the sound I’ve got.
I’m not getting any noise specific to the air intake and the exhaust feels/sounds pretty even. No puffs. Have not compression tested yet but will this weekend.
Thanks Bart for the guidance, exactly what I needed
Definitely going to pull off the intake and see if that’s the source when I’m home. If I can’t figure it after I change the shifter boot and try a compression test I’ll try a video to capture the sound
