    Bilstiens...not liking them.

When I did Bilsteins on my 89 f350 I noticed it seemed better on rough roads. Like rough gravel roads. Rear gets really rough if I'm loaded and on the overloads. I have Energy suspension bushings in all my springs. Factory rear springs. 99-04 superduty springs up front with a reverse shackle...

    Snap on 480 timing meter

I think I have a snap on MT480. I think it works fine. It's the snap on timing adapter that connects to the fuel line? If so it's worked fine for me. Just make sure you put the plug wire clamp on the right direction for the snap-on meter. One way I didn't get signal.

    Stalling

My 93 had the same problem. If I run a fuel lubricant it's fine. If I run straight diesel it dies. Seems better after hundreds of miles with fuel conditioner. I'm not at the point it doesn't die every time i run without conditioner. Franklin was right. There is a deal in the pump that gets...

    ZF5 swap help!

Yeah that article is dead on. Redrilling the bell housing is simple. One of my trucks has the close ratio and one has the wide ratio tranny. Can't really say which I like better. I would put in the transmission that seems to be in the best shape. And if the price is right might round both of...

Help deciding on which turbo and gears to run

Just swapped my 93 factory turbo ZF-5 truck from 3.55's to 4.10's. Wish I'd of done it years ago. Made a night and day difference in how the truck pulls. I need to swap me other truck now too.

    -40 winters and starting

AT those temps I'd have some sort of coolant heater and a stick on oil pan heater. Not a bad idea to keep the batteries warm or trickle charged. Also make sure your starting system is in tip top shape. These things turn over slow as they get cold and won't fire if they don't get enough speed. I...

    Ac update?

I've shot compressed air in them to help find leaks before, but I don't have a hose made to connect compressed air to my a/c gauges. I'm also not excited about introducing contaminants from compressed air. So using vacuum is simpler for me. I'm not a professional so I don't have nitrogen handy...

    Ac update?

When I convert a system. I start by looking for leaks. Normally by pulling a vacuum and seeing if it holds at all. Then start fixing seals at the greasy ac connections. I always put UV die in my AC systems. So if I have trouble again I can find the leak. In my trucks I run red orifice tubes. I...

    Brake woes

My thought is to try bleeding the MC really well. I've done a poor job bleeding the MC before install and had a heck of a time getting brakes on some vehicles.

    Overdrive unit question

I have a US gear overdrive and ran it years behind my T-19 and now have it behind my ZF-5. I like it a lot for splitting gears when pulling heavy. It's noisy though. i used it a lot for overdrive with my T-19. That unit wouldn't be worth much to me as they are not easy to get parts for. I've...

    Dana 60 going in...eventually

If you click the flickr link in my signature it should have pictures showing the front end mounts. The springs aren't parallel. They are wider in the front. From what I read this actually helps the truck track better VS perfectly parallel springs. Something about keeping them preloaded. they...

Looking for some parts sources for a couple of parts I need

I just replace the o-rings on the fuel heater. Even if the fuel heater doesn't work well it's super easy to just put O-rings on it VS threading the housing for a plug. You got a picture of the deal in the valley? Almost sounds like the stand for the oil pressure sensor.

    Dana 60 going in...eventually

I put 99-04 super duty springs in the front of my 89 crewcab. I had to lengthen the front of the frame to handle their extra length. I used the 99-2004 mounts in the front and back. To use the back ones you have to trim off part of the cab mount. Overall not a bad swap. I think it was a good...
