Smoke while warming up
The glow plug controller went bad and burned up 5 out of 8 plugs. But it smoked like this before that happened. Replaced all the plugs and checked the wiring. I use a push button switch to fire the plugs. If I run the plugs while it's running it definitely helps but still smokes more then it did...- Jp123

How long do you hold the glow plugs? It's a very excessive amount of thick smoke that lingers. Takes about 10mins or more of idling before it goes away. I work for a well drilling company and we have lots of old and new diesel's. None come close to smoking like this- Jp123

Thanks everyone for replying. I'll check compression to rule that out. Ive called around and can't find anyone with a meter to check timing. Everyone said they do it by ear.. Anyone know someone around statesville NC that has a meter? I'll start saving for injectors and pump. What's a good brand...- Jp123

Hello everyone, I have been trying to figure out my truck's blueish/white smoking problem on start up. Smoke rolls out 2 Houses down lol. It is a 94 f350 with a 7.3 idi factory turbo.
