Thats a common mis-interpretation. Blenders can blend up to 400 gal/qtr without paying the fuel tax themselves. The separate event of putting it in a highway vehicle fuel tank is not exempted at all. 24 cents per gallon on IRS form 720. There is more detail in the VegOil Laws link in the bottom...
I used aluminum tube for mine. Made from "versatube" aircraft aluminum fuel tubing, from Aircraft Spruce. Basically a loop with pieces of HDPE to support it off the bottom of the tank. It was aluminum brazed to the plate of aluminum that attaches it from the top of the tank. Been in place around...
I'd try to avoid it. Acid (FFA) of WVO is not really the issue. Any water in the WVO will cause the copper to oxidize. There is also considerable evidence that copper acts as a catalyst for polyerization of oil (sort of a linoleum like goo).
As a side note, copper tends to become less...
That may be a good addition, tho I haven't heard anything on that particular unit. If you want startup heat, best bet IMO is to use a block heater. WVO runs better in a hot engine, and you'll get fuel warmup soon after starting.
That suburban is very sensitive to air. The return volume is pretty small tho so I don't know how much heat you'll get back looping it. Try disconnecting the return line and run it to a bucket for a few miles and see how much fuel is really being returned. If it's enough to warrant using a loop...
Just wanted to bring this to everyones attention.

Been hopping in here occasionally, just never seem to post here
(with all these smilies, you think there'd be a shrug???) :rotflmao
Goin good. Just did a 1300 mile WVO run to Portland and back. Ran like a champ and used about 3 gallons #2 total ;Sweet
The gauge switching is in the tank valve itself. If the valve quits working, the fuel gauge won't change to the other tank. Switches that control which tank the gauge reads will show the level of the selected tank even if the valve doesn't switch. Common, but not cool...
