ZF5 Question

Is it possible to take a 2wd 5 speed tranny and make it work in a 4x4?

There is a diesel plow truck for sale that needs a tranny, and I have one for a 2wd.

housing and the output shaft is different.
2wd has a threaded nut on the end
4wd has a slip fit splines on the end.
the housing is the item that goes down the assy line first.
