Wow, good call. I had a feeling that it was an air issue. I know with mine, when I am low on that tank, and going up hill, it will suck air for a second some times, and surge; and at other times it will stumble. It has only done the surge thing a few timesk, but when it did, wow.

and if that dont do it---be careful if you have a turbo--esp with miles on it--because if the bushing in the turbo suddenly starts leaking a lot of oil--it feeds direct into the engine--and you could get a runaway--it partially happened to me--luckily--the injection pump shaft sheared---faster than i shut the key off--and killed the engine--if enough oil would have come from the turbo--she'd a blowed---

You know, . . . I wonder if that caused my sudden surge?? I had thought it was because I was almost out of gas, and sucked air. But it may have built up oil inside the turbo and than sucked it at once, and pow. I do have oil in the inside of the turbo, but it is not much, and I read that there will be some oil always. I only have 120K on the clock, and I have no idea how long the turbo has been on the truck. I do know when I bought it, and after a week I went to change out the filter to a K&N, and when I looked into the compressor wheel, all the blades were broken off, as though some had dropped a bolt down it. At any rate, I had to replace the compressor wheel about six (6) month ago. The compressor wheel was already balanced, and I check the clearance, and oil lines, and drain; It all looked fine. With the K&N filter, and no **** on my stuff, it sounds so cool. You can really hear the turbo sing. It sounds like a jet turbine taking off, . . . it is bad ass.

But, I check on everything once a week, and the next thing I have to do on payday is but chemicals in my radiator to get the mix right.

Those surges of power are pockets of air in the fuel system. I cant personally explaine why it would be a boost of power, but I do know that is what happens when the IP runs out of fuel. Like you guys said, it's as if someone had run into the back of your truck while driving.

Yah that's what I believe. For a minute, I thought that maybe I could be getting oil from my turbo (oil build up, from a possible leak), but when I checked it out, there was just a slight film of oil, and that is supposed to be on the normal side 9according to my research). It has to do with some kind of lean condition, under a certain rear condition (like you said, I am not quite sure how yet, but I need to research it, 'cause now it will drive me crazy not knowing!!).

u know maybe the FASS fuel system will help out with our problem
cause dont they say that the system takes air out of the fuel or what ever

Correct. The way it is set up, it seperates water from fuel, and it has a internal return system which removes the air before the fuel gets to the engine.

I don't think so. The way it is set up, it has a return fuel system, like in our IDI, where the fuel is returned from the injectors, and goes back through the filter, and back to the tank. Like our system, when it is working correctly is designed to remove air and to recycle the fuel both to the fuel filter and through the fuel tank.
