Just want to get your guys opinion on a price for another IDI I might be picking up.

I'm looking at a 1992 F350 Crew Cab Long Bed 4x4 (Dana 60 with ball joints), 7.3 IDI(N/A) and ZF5 speed with 4:10s

280,000 miles

It was a Nevada truck with some surface rust,

The motor is in great condition, Trans shifts smooth and 4x4 works,

Was a Ranch truck, so it's in a work truck condition but Not beat to hell

Only things that are wrong with it are the power steering is worn, leaks oil (like every IDI), a good size dent in the bed and other minor cosmetics.

What do you think is a fair price?

Thanks,

I sold my '95 PSD version, lifted, for $8k about 10 years ago. I know the prices on these has gone up...

Hmm, I might be cheap and expect too much but I’m thinking 5-7k. How many miles? I’m thinking if it was a ranch truck you could be looking at under 140k?

just for point of comparison..
I took a look at Craigslist..
I looked in Nevada since you said the truck was from that area
(take a look at your area to see whats happening.)

https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/d/las-vegas-1991-ford-250-4x4/7356826077.html 1991, 200K miles, turbo, $6k

and then there is this..
90k miles, non-turbo, $15k

Damn 15k, that is steep! I am working with my dad right now to acquire an 85 6.9 4x4, single cab, C6 with under 100,000 miles for $3,000. It has no batteries and needs return lines and there is a crack in the rear cab window but has been a date farm truck its whole life so really no excessive wear and no rust since it is from the Southwest.
But I understand I have unreal expectations at times. You should be able to get a dog for under $100, and a good used pickup truck for under 10k for sure. With 280,000 miles I would still say my placed value on the truck is no more than $7,000. $500 to play with

It’s a lot of miles (value wise), but it’s also a very desireable configuration. Used truck prices are up, and OBS Ford’s are gaining in popularity. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it go to $5k or maybe $6k

I've owned my '86 since 2015 and i bought it for $4K with 189,000 miles on it. I've spent probably $3k total on repair and upgrades (suspension, steering, IP and injectors from Conestoga and a used factory TURBO... It's a Lariat and it's very reliable. I'd spend $5K on something with a clean'ish looking block and GOOD COMPRESSION - make sure you do a compression test and have 8 holes or you're going to spend a lot on engine.

I don't value a NA IDI any higher than a gasser.

In fact, if I wanted an OBS crew again, I'd get a cheap 2wd gas one. Fummins it and use 05+ axles.
