Have an 85 with tilt steering. Truck starts intermittenly with steering wheel in different tilt positions, not consistent and then dies with steering wheel in different tilt positions, not consistent.
switch or what?

Thanks,
Dave

I haven't dealt with the steering column as much as some others, so hopefully someone who knows better will chime in shortly. That said, it sounds like it's the linkage that goes between the key cylinder and the switch at the base of the column that it activates.

Wish I could be of more help....again, hopefully someone else will give more info...

Your ignition switch is loose or busted. Had this happen on an '88 1/2 ton. I could lift up the steering wheel and I could start it. Move the ignition switch up the column on the built in guides that provide adjustment. just loosen, slide the switch toward you a quarter of an inch, tighten back down, and test.
