What's the cost of an oil sample analysis? Is there an approved method of gathering a sample. Who should I contact for the service? I recently went through a similar fire drill and slapped a used cooler on to get home and then found metal flake in the oil. "Paranoia Strikes Deep" but if I can avoid or delay the inevitable it would be so nice. I just can't bear the thought of ventilating a good block.
I use
OILANALYZERS.COM
very happy with them
and they have multiple labs across the country.,

Alot of members on here use Blackstone Labs based out of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. They have free sample collecting kits available from their website with the proper procedure of collection. I would read on their site for the tests available.....

Glad you made it Jim! Good that you didn't have to resort to any serious wrench turning. That's one for the books. A lifter noise fixed by an oil change. I guess that gets moved to the top of the list the next time someone calls.
