My buddy has a 2010 or 09 GMC with the 6.0 gasser and is thinkin of trading it in for a 04-06 powerstroke, what are some of the issues and things he should look out for? any other thoughts?

not being a smartass...
but both will eat a chunk of his ass without thinking twice before biting.
repair histories are critical on both motors.

I understand that, I just want to know some things to pay attention to... just weaknesses and common problems that might be foreseen when looking at the truck

Like anything else you want to see the repair history if it was done at a shop.

Check all the turbo hoses since they tend to crack.

Lots more but I am drawing a blank....

i have been working on these things "6.0" since new. usually first signs of problems are noticed at degas bottle/ coolant resivoir, check to see if low, dirty or looks like blowing coolant out cap. also a good cold start can tell u alot, if it is missfiring or lacks power cold this is a good indication of potential problems
