Timing 7.3 with lumy

Hi,
getting ready to time my 89 F250 with a rotunda 78-0100, which as far as I have been able to find out should work on the 7.3 IDI (maybe not the best alternative, but it's what I got.).. But what am I shooting for in degrees BTDC or ATDC, and at which RPM? Cetane number is 51..

Wow 51 eh? That's some good chit dar man! That number is off the chart. I'd say 4 degrees ATDC would be good for you.

51!! most of the stuff round here is like 30-35 from what i've heard

Thanks, just what I was looking for. Is this at 2000 RPM?

Well, the product data sheet for the diesel in the pumps at my local gas station says 51, and I reckon I can trust it.. Don't have anything to test it with either, so I don't have any choice. Apparently the standard for automotive diesel here in Norway is 48-53. Dunno if there are any differences due to metric system, but I reckon cetane is cetane

you want to set it at 1200RPM

Just lookedup some info on the European cetane rating and Holy Smokes, the minimum standard is 51 and someone has made a synthetic diesel that has a 63.6 rating!
