I am in the process of rebuilding my heads.

The thermo housing of course has the little steel ball, everyone says make sure it is loose and free, mine wasn't, I pulled the retainer out and it fell apart.

Can't find a new retainer that holds the ball in place, where can you find them or what is plan B.

Nobody sells a repair kit so you need to buy the complete thermostat housing now. Or wait around for someone to explain how they repaired theirs like MacGiver does things.

all you need is the ball and something to hold the ball in while you're assembling the outlet. Items like butter or vasaline comes to mind.

I left the ball in my t-stat hsg out. Been running for 2k miles with no problems. If you really wanted to reinstall it, I think a small rubber o-ring would work fine.
