Got the pleasure of using the new self sealing 12oz r-134 cans. Is there a better adapter then the little blue crossthreading, snails pace filling, plastic adapter. Would prefer all brass that does away with the can piercing tap. May have to break down and keep a 30lb bottle one hand.

They're awful I dealt with these filling up my under dash system. Put the can down on a slippery surface and put a glove on the hand your gonna spin the can with so you dont freeze it. Then push straight down on the adapter and gauge mess and spin the can. Crossthreads less often then. Dont cross it taking it back off or that pin breaks and then it's useless.

Do you only have the new cans there?
We have both. I would assume eventually the pierce style will be "outlawed."

It's hard to find the old style here in pa at least. Definitely getting phased out

Not sure, purchased the cans from work.
Found the adapter probably not epa approved since is does not have left hand acme threads requiring another adapter, but it looks more durable the plastic one.

Keep a 30 pounder handy. You'll need it later on & price of r134 may go back up. Check Sam's Club
