quick question

whats the thermostat temperature on our trucks, you know like are they 180 degree stats or what?
mine only gets up to 200 degrees when im towin somthin heavy and im thinkin that the thing might have a 180 in it...just curious
im in Iraq and dont really have anything else to post so i thought i would ask a question thats been buggin me for a while

If I remember correctly it is a 180 degree tstat. I know on the 2nd gens both 12 and 24 valve versions that they will run up to temp then past just a bit then the tstat opens and they rocket down and will shut, then it repeats - mine did this even when towing heavy in the summer heat - Little unnerving at first but you get used to it. I know that some guys recommend swapping in one from MOPAR to stabilize the temp - they always ran a little warmer but didn't see the temp swings. Is yours still the stock cummins tstat maybe?

yeah i bought the truck new in 07 and never messed with it, is the mopar a 190 degree tstat?
