I saw this on DTR last month & finally got around to trying it.

I got a 4" 90 degree PCV elbow, there are 2 types of PVC pipe, thin & thick wall, the thin wall besides being thinner & lighter also had a tighter bend & was more compact.

I also got an adaptor & I had to buy a 8' piece of the 4" thinwall pipe but it was still under $20.

I used a 4" hole saw & then trimmed the hole till it was a tight slip fit, I put the adaptor on one end & cut a piece of the 4" pipe to attach the adaptor to the elbow.
I painted it flat black to match the rest of the airbox.
I rivited the pieces together & I can aim the open end where I want it.

I had an water resistant Outerwear pre filter from an old filter off my Raptor.
I put that over the opening just to help keep water out.

That looks great. I think I'm going to have to try that. Have you noticed any differences in performance or EGT? What filter are you running?

I don't have an EGT guage so I can't say what the diffrence is there.

I put on a free flowing muffler at the same time so I don't know how much diffrence the airbox mod did but between the 2 the turbo does spool up quicker & it seems to run better & I'm getting better fuel milage.

I still have the stock filter for now.
