I have a 84 Ford with a 6.9, banks turbo and a 4 speed. I call it leaky.
Last night I replaced the starter in my friends driveway, it started fine but on my way home it just died, Just nothing.
I looked under it and the small wire to the starter had broken off and I put a new eye on and hooked it back up, Still nothing, No lights no anything.
Anyone have an idea what might be wrong with it?
Thanks for your time!

Have you checked the voltage at the batteries and do you know if your alternator is producing a charge or not. If both of these two are fine, then I would suspect that
your ignition switch on the steering column is bad or out of adjustment.

Two other items to check would be the passenger side fender solenoid and if your truck still has the voltage regulator. There is a test that you can do on the solenoid, but I'm not sure how to.

The wire that you reattached at the starter was it melted in any kind of a way or did it appear to have just broken off ?

Do you have a multimeter to check the voltage of the batteries and the fender mounted starter solenoid?
