Power Steering Box Seal

I know this is a newer truck, but many of you down here in the basement have newer rigs and I am hoping some of you may have some experience with steering boxes in general.

My buddies 2006 F350 4x4 CC SRW is leaking out of the seal behind the pitman arm on the steering box. I've talked to some people who have told me that on older Ford truck steering boxes. In order to replace the seal, the operation is to pull the pitman arm, pull a circlip that holds the seal in place, start the truck and let the pressure of the system push the questionable seal out. Reverse the order of operations and reassemble.

Anybody have any thoughts or insight?

Thanks

R. J.

you need to give it some rpm's and turn it lock to lock, whichever one blows it out, a piece of plastic sewer pipe in a 5 gal bucket keeps the mess to a minimum. Yes it works.
