Is there a possible way to tell if a truck has its original IP? The reason I ask is because I was thinking about advancing my timing a dimes width, but am not sure if its at the original timing. I see the timing marks and they line up square.

Is the pump gray? If so it may be original, the rebuilders have no paint .

Well apparently its not original beings its not painted. Anyways the timing marks lined up so I advanced it a dimes width. Advancing it you turn the pump to the passenger side correct? I get a big puff of black smoke on start up which I never use to. I'm sure there was an easier way to do it but I loosened the almost loose injector nuts, couldn't get it to turn so I loosened the injector lines I could reach and use a pry bar and it worked.
