New Boost Gauge

Wanted to know what my turbo was doing so I picked up a sunpro boost gauge.

Looks like I can get it up to 12psi when revving between 3rd and 4th at about 3,000rpm.

Wonder if I should turn my waste gate down a bit?

That is pretty dang crazy man. I would say that someone messed with the wastegate a ton before you, or for some reason your wg aint working. Maybe your gauge is messed up?

It's hard to get it to do it. I was only able to get that once. Normally it's more like 6-8.

There may be a kink in the tube I'll check in the morning.

p.s. this turbo was taken off a blown 7.3 - but checks out 100% itself.

I don't know maybe the wg does need to be turned down. You need to be careful that could blow a head gasket. Alternately you could just rev the motor a little less than you currently do. I wonder if being at elevation as you are has anything to do with the higher boost numbers? I really don't know.

cool that is about double what i get, best i can do is 7-8 and it drops back off around 2500

here i want to crank mine up.

i thought these engines were good to 15 psi?

I dunno, I'm going to watch this thing like a hawk and if I spike that high again I'm gunna turn the wastegate screw a bit.
