My International TD340 crawler just started stalling. It has an International 4 cylinder D166 diesel engine. it fires up fine then slowly loses rpm until it stalls. It runs great when you fire it up but after a minute it loses power.

I changed the fuel filter and checked the flow out of the tank (it's gravity feed). Removing the muffler doesn't help.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Brian!

Have you taken a look at the governor assembly and made sure that everything's in adjustment? I've never dealt with one of these engines, but I saw a 6-71 that had a similar problem...ended up needing to replace the entire governor assembly cookoo

Just a thought...best of luck with it ;Sweet

Tank vent is most likely plugged run into this many times . If it has a separate tank vent hose, it most likely has mud daubbers filled it up and clogged it, if no hose, then it has a vented cap that is supposed to let air in as the fuel goes down but its not and its causing a vacuum. Try leaving the cap off and see what happens, if it keeps running youve found the culpret and get a new cap
