Our engines will never show diesel squirting from the loose injector lines when you try to bleed the air from the system. Tighten the lines. Crank the engine for say 10 or 15 seconds. Let the starter rest for 2 minutes and as its resting crack open the injector lines at each easy to reach injectors.Look for small amounts of diesel but mostly listen for air escaping. Do this a couple of times allowing the starter to rest so it cools off between cranking. You can also use a heat gun or hair dryer directing heat on the injection pump to warm it up. Maybe it is gummed up from sitting. Where did you get the pump and "matched injectors" from.

I though the governor gives it full fuel when cranking?

Pushing the throttle open does something. On my sunvisor starting instructions, when it's very cold outside it says to push the throttle open some.

Liqua molly diesel purge is a better solution for filling new filter with to clean an IP...that is what it iz specifically designed for and injectors....

Also if cranking is slow remove glow plugs...then it will crank much faster...that should help move more liqua molly diesel purge into IP and down lines to injectors....

That is so the plunger on the high idle can engage...it's not strong enough on it's own.

Nope. Something else going on here. They say push the throttle halfway for temps above 32, and fully for temps below 32F. Here's a picture of the sunvisor on my truck.

I remember my 86 had that sticker in it that said that.

That is so bad to do
Lol, I've never had a problem starting a diesel where I had to hold the throttle down.
Think about dry parts, turbo etc. in fact, I start my truck first, wait for oil pressure and then I tap the pedal for fast idle to engage

Don't ask me why flooring it increases fuel output when cranking, but it does. I've primed a number of IPs over the years, and it always helps.

As far as revving from a dry start... still not sure it matters. Remember, the oil pump will push X fuel per revolution. If it takes 100 revs to make pressure, it doesn't matter if that takes .1 seconds or .03 seconds.
I've heard of diesel generators running full rpm from start and still lasting as long as ones that were babied...

Also, on bleeding the lines... with the nuts loose at the injector, you'll definitely get fuel spurting out as you crank, under pressure. It'll go several inches at least.

I see these massive casino generators start up all the time like that. They blow so much smoke, you have to look twice thinking something is on fire.
It's just a habit I grew up with that seems really unnerving to rev an engine upon start up
