Post up your truck's info in your sig. It will help us determine if you are getting good mpg.
24 is good but it does seem a bit high even for highway. my dad's crown vic gets 26 highway.

I'm probably getting 12 mpg unloaded in my '89. That's running 315/75R-16 Toyo MTs, though. Towing my trailer is more in the neighborhood of 9 mpg. :puke:

I don't have the lightest foot, though.

I won't say you're full of it. Just like the Powerstrokes, some of these IDIs seem to get incredible fuel mileage (16 city 20+ highway) and some seem to be energy hogs (<10 city or <14 hwy) and some seem to just be unremarkable like mine (12-14 city, 14-17 hwy) no matter what we do. 24 would be incredible though. I'd think you'd need an aggressive O/D and numerically low (tall) gears coupled with a light foot and light or absent loads. What's stranger is we haven't seemed to be able to develop a recipe that says do X, Y and Z if your primary goal is minimum energy use and least emissions.

10 years ago the day I bought the truck I got 19mpg. The only reason why I was able to get that was because the alternator belt broke and that in turn stopped the vac pump from working so I drove 45 max.

Since then I have been around 14 but the past year or so I haven't checked it because I have not filled it up.

I have a ZF, 3.55's and 235/85s. If I cruise around at 55 or less with the AC off I can get 24 MPG. Normal city/ highway mixed driving I get 19. I can get a whole lot worse if I'm in a bad mood. Normally I have a VERY light foot.

i imagine its impossible to always go downhill :p and no the highway trip i was on was on the number 1 highway and the sea-to-sky highway.so between 4-10% grades. and im usually between 95-110 km/h. i always fill right up to the top of the neck too. but i checked to make sure my speedo was correct today. and it is .3 km out. my wifes car (2008 ford focus) was at 126.6 km and my truck was at 126.3 and we did the exact same trip.

I find what blend of fuel affects my mileage. get worse on tranny fluid than i do on diesel or wmo.

But on a mix of atf, wmo and a little bit of old left over diesel netted me 21 hwy with a zf 5, lift and 37in tires. 16 in the city being fairly nice.

This last week has been one that needs to be forgotten. My rear tank is on 1/4 now and its showing about 100 mi... Close to 10mpg LOL.

Just normal back country roads I can get around 18-20 mpg doing 45-55 in 5th with the truck in my sig. Now as soon as the smoke appears you can litteraly watch the fuel gauge drop
