does it use the metal tube
Yes, it uses the metal tube with the rubber/silacone boot. If I remember Correctly the routing is, on a completely Stock 6.0
Air Filter Behind the Drivers Side Headlight next to the DS Battery
Plastic Hose to the Drivers Side of the Turbo (Compressor Side)
Out of the Compressor side of the Turbo, thru a metal tube to the CAC (Charge Air Cooler) on the Passenger side of the truck.
Thru the CAC
Out of the CAC on the drivers side into the intake manifold in the front/center of the engine directly in front of the Oil Filter.
