How can I install a tack on a 6.9 or 7.3? Wanting to put one in Brothers truck!

If so then an instrument cluster change would be neat (don't know how OEM look you want to go).
Now if going aftermarket... I have not a clue other than just follow the direction on the package as my old IDI had a factory tach. I know that they are available and some read off the alt.
I built my own. In 83 there was no tach option available. I put two reflective stripes on the backside of the flywheel, and mounted an optical sensor. Circuit for which is in my album.dazedandconfused said:
