In what vehicles/when was the 700r4 K case used?

I'm looking at buying a 1/2 ton GM truck to complete the swap into my full size Cherokee for CA SMOG reasons, can't tell them I got the engine from a 3/4 ton and I'm curious if these trucks (blazers, suburbans, pickups) used the K case, or if that was in newer/heavier trucks.

I'm a little late to reply but since I was looking at this today...

My 1989 Suburban R1500 has the K case 700R; I don't know when they started using them on "light" trucks but it's there. My RPO code is "MD8" for TRANSMISSION, AUTO 4 SPD, THM 700 R4.
