If you want to try it with the trans out, just lift up on the back of the engine. It will tilt farther away from the crossmember. Just be careful of the radiator fan and hoses.
Unless you drained the torque converter, the trans body only takes 8 gallons of fluid, you'll have to convert from gallons to Liters.
DO NOT OVERFILL AND RUN IT. IT WILL DESTROY THE TRANS. You more than likely did if fluid ran out the top air bleeder.
Drain some out so it's below the Crosshatch marks, start the truck, let trans warm up to 70-80 degrees, check level when running in Park or Neutral. Add fluid as needed.
