help with knock.

[84 6.9]

my 84 f250 with the 6.9l had a really bad knock ive been told it could be many things. ive checked injectors and there good. i have driven it and it has no power, going down a strait road in 4th gear with the peddle to the floor it would not go over 55mph.

Thats flywheel problems. I see the clutch cover has a huge cut in the pan. You need to remove that cover and see whats messed up.

i thought that was stock? its a really clean cut. i have that off and the teeth are slightly warn on the motor side

The motor side of the flywheel gear are supposed to be beveled so the starter can enter the ring gear easier. They do wear out too but are a simple easy replacement job. the hard part is dropping the trans to get at the gear. That pan or as some call it... The inspection cover never came with that large cut in it. Remove it and start the engine. Look at the clutch and flywheel running but keep fingers away from the turning parts.
