My 6.9 huals balls, but i ahve to keep it right around 3k to keep it moving. I went through WV in 3rd gear up most of the "hills"
It could definately use more umph on the hills but I was out running my buddies 92 f350 with 351w and 5speed that was towing trailer and a jeep.
My truck empty ways 7200, I had it loaded down with about 3000 pounds of offroading rig/parts and camping gear. I was nearly keeping up with the cummins/at that was in front of me towing aswell up hills.
I think your main problem is ya got use the to fuel sucking 460/5speed.
Get the 5speed in the van and it'll probably do 100times better. My f250 with 351/e4od was gutless as hell to.
