Okay, let's keep this going. On the "Super-Duty", are there any nicknames to differentiate between those generations? There have been significant body, engine and trans changes since the Super-Duty's debut in '99. Also anyone seen any names for the new light-duty body styles for 2004-on?
I have not heard of any nickname for the F-150 97-up except Triton, and the 97 body look went for a few years and then it "squared up" again, but again have not heard of anything other than Triton, and not 100% sure that was a reference to the body... the engines in 97-up (4.6, 5.4 and V10) were the Triton series of engine, like PSD in the diesels.....
On the Superduty (99-Up F-250 throught F-550, and not the 97-Older F-Superduty) I agree, there have been several subtle changes over the years. For Example:
Some Early 99's Had the Power Stroke V8 decal on the fender behind the marker light (but not all were this way)
Some Late 99, 2000+ Had the Large Power Stroke DIESEL V8 "plaque" on the doors (but not all, see above)
99 - 2000 - The two lines below the words Power Stroke on the above "plaque" were Red.
01 - 03 - The two lines below the words Power Stroke on the above "plaque" were Chrome. (On 7.3 equipped trucks)
03 - 04 - The words Power Stroke V8 were in red letters, and the words Turbo Diesel were in black on the above "plaque" (On 6.0 equipped trucks)
05 - 07 - The words Power Stroke V8 were in black letters, and the words Turbo Diesel were in chrome with a red background on the above "plaque"
99 - 02 - The headlight lenses were "faceted" (like a glass sealed beam). The turn signal and side markers were "faceted" and the lens color was amber.
03 - 04 - The headlight lens was smooth and clear, with a faceted mirror (Euro Style).
The turn signal lens was clear and faceted, the marker light was amber and faceted.
05 - 07 - Entire nose changed. Smaller headlight and turnsignal's Headlights and turnsignals were smooth and clear with faceted mirrors (Euro Style) and the markers were faceted and clear. This was also the change of grill with the 3 large flat cross bars.
08 - 10 - 6.4 equipped with the new nose (my opinion, ugly nose)
11 - ?? - 6.7 equipped with a new nose and on the dually's the small fender flare style fenders rather than the large "hips" from the earlier trucks.
These are just a few changes over the years..... nothing unusual. They have been doing subtle changes like this since the mid 70's......
